How have the Russians through out history to modern day been able to always absorb such incredibly amounts of death of their people?
>>

They’re naturally suicidal. Living in a grim place like Russia naturally makes them want to escape their misery by any means necessary.
>>
Schizophrenic armchair anthropology thread? Say it ain't so.
>>
That is actually a very Roman aspect of the Russian character. Absorbing high damage without even caring too much intimidates your enemies on a visceral level

The Romans used their losses to learn and adapt. Eventually they build an empire.
The Russians just send more meat waves until it's done, and then they return to being a depressing shithole.

A strong sense of own's race and people. What Hitler called Volk.

Throughout most of their history they've never really had a strong lasting alliance with anyone. Even going back to the Kievan Rus, the decision to adopt Eastern Orthodoxy and the Cyrillic alphabet put them at odds with their catholic neighbours in the west, who they warred with frequently and feared the influence of. Also their neighbours to the East were their former overlords, the mongols. The one partner they could rely on, the Byzantines, were destroyed and taken over by the Turks, who the Russians warred with frequently.
The eastern churches fear of the Catholic and Latin influence on their people and the heretical changed that might bring, meant that the Russians mostly kept their borders closed to outsiders and outside ideas. (This goes a long way to explain their technological inferiority for most of history).
Even Peter the great who famously devoured European ideas and inventions said something like
>We must learn from the Latins and them show them our rear as we surpass them.
Meaning his want of connection was influenced by his desire to not see Russia fall behind.
So they've been sort of self-confined, paranoid and feeling inferior, and this keeps them without allies. (Apart from short lived ones).
So the tendency of Russia to sacrifice their own people to achieve their goals is born out of necessity. Since they are always a team of one, relying on inferior technology, they rely on their raw manpower.
I'm reminded of the huge fucking rock that the statue of Peter the great sits on in St. Petersburg, which was the heaviest monument ever moved by human hands, moved over land for 3.6 miles by 400 men with ropes, pulleys and ball bearings. Which seems like something out of ancient Egypt in terms of human effort but when your only resource is manpower, and translating western books on engineering is illegal, you use what you have.

>to always absorb such incredibly amounts of death of their people

Like any other nation

Russia's casualties in WW2 were bigger than Germany's only to the fact that German pows weren't executed by Soviets whereas all soviet pows died in death camps.
If ussr killed all 3 million captured germans k/d rate would've been opposite

Same nowadays
Casualties are big, but not as big as west tries to show and they have logic.

People mobilized in 2022 serve in support roles and have low casualty rate.
Those who die are mostly volunteers but you can't blame state for personal decision so people don't protest especially considering they get a lot of compensation.

>t know 6 people mobilized in 2022 and one guy serving as volunteer on smo

Because Rome was led by Romans and Russia is led by "Russians"

kinda like meiji

>A strong sense of Moscow's race and people. What Hitler called being a gigantic resource hungry whore.

It's basically just Moscow and its surroundings sending people from anywhere else to either die for them or die to them.

They transported that stone according to the plans of Marin Carburi a Greek engineer who studied at the University of Bologna. There is a somewhat plausible theory that he found ancient Roman methods for it.
>>
>>18762126
The romans you circlejerk over did the same
>>
>>18762904
Bruh neither place had high living standarfds, the romans literally collapsed apartments with people in them to collect insurance
>>

Are you underage? What do you think counts as "high living standards" in 100 AD?
>>
>>18765770
Quite literally anything would be better than being part of the malnourished deracinated slave masses of the Roman Empire. It was just a state of absolute subhumanity, with the collapse of the Empire (thank God), despite the collapse of accompanying Roman infrastructure and rule of law, people started noticeably getting taller, this is archaeological evidence their diets improved, they were healthier, their quality of life increased. Because Roman rule was diabolical tyranny, and even the rule of Gothic warlords was an improvement.
