How the fuck did people ever idolize war?
>>18765704Same way you can idolize a tragedy, sacrifice or suffering.
Killing your enemies is based. I wish more people did it
>>18765714You dont mind if i kill you?
>>18765714This is how you'll end up seconds after getting into a war
>get payed>get pensions and other benefits>doesn't require any formal education or job experience>you have an opportunity to see foreign lands and meet people>you have easy credentials to find work once you're back to civilian lifeDon't get me wrong, I'd never enlist and I have no strong opinions on any current conflict at the moment, but I can see why it would be enticing to some people, especially if you're a lonely, uneducated NEET, which has always historically been the average soldiers background anyways
War is badass and cool
>>18765730>>18765737So all you have are emotional appeals? Worthless feelings dont give a fuck when the negro rapes your wife and the Hun burns down your cities and pillages your granaries.
>>18765704Fictional wars in videogames and movies are cool because explosions and guns are simply cool and no real people have to die, but that's where they get you
Even if you set aside short term emotional gains like killing an enemy or the thrill of battle, warfare was historically one of the very few societal avenues that brought about colossal gains for individuals: wealth from loot, societal advancement for being successful in war no matter your birth, military glory increasing ones' social standing, and the ability to be politically taken very seriously in a lot of very undemocratic cultures since an armed man is very hard to ignore. It had tremendous rewards for the "small" people, and thus was seen as a heroic venture that brought much gain.Modern war is big gay because of this: all of the violence and little in the way of rewards.
>>18765742Say that once you get shred to pieces by a drone carrying a dildo while you're jerking off
>>18765704You get to rape and pillage. For your average peasant it's a great way to climb up social ranks if he's smart and lucky, while the average retard just wants to rape.
>>18765704life is struggle, and only in the face of death does a man, and through him a people, become real rather than a dream of comfort
>>18765704It's a side effect of seperating war (and its consequences) and daily life. A dysfunctional urge to see others getting maimed by your own hands but you are prevented by established morales to do so, so you turned to fiction to express that bloodthirst desire. Back then, you don't "idolize" war while sitting on your comfort chair, you just go to war.
>>18765738>you have easy credentials to find work once you're back to civilian lifeThis is just incorrect.Veterans have long been terrible at reintegrating into modern post-agricultural economies because they have no skills.Unless you specialized in a technical role, most soldiers know basically nothing about anything outside the military.
>>18766001You gain skills in the military anon. A lot of vets end up getting jobs as auto mechanics and such
>>18766008That is if you actually work on vehicles. Most soldiers aren't touching many wrenches. And it isn't like getting auto mechanic training is some high level rare skill, and not something that takes a few months at a technical school.
>>18765738You could just have all this with like a public works program/civilian job corps and actually make something useful with it instead of an overpriced ZOG imperial death machine for private defense contractors to grift off of, but Americans would call it gommunism
>>18766001That's because the peacetime military is essentially a jobs program for the retarded and unemployable, like the TSA.
in pre-industrial times war was necessary to acquire resources with the lack of modern means like trade pacts. people also had many children and wars would thin the surplus young male population.
