>>18771006So basically he had a slim parliamentary majority in the Reichstag since the NSDAP entered into a coalition with the DNVP(monarchist party) after the 1933 fake election that Hindenburg called for him and additionally he declared a sort of martial law after the Reichstag fire, allowing him to change the consitution with a simple majority. The legal process behind this was really complicated but basically Hitler flashbanged the remaining democratic parties before they could do anything about it. That all happened in the span of a week btw
He only got 1 party to support him, DNVP (8%), who were basically the far-right party before NSDAP (44%) was cool. Further the communist KPD (12%) was abstentionist and refused to cooperate with the other parties, so the effective majority was 59% .
Hindenburg had the loyalty of the army and could have sidelined Hitler, however the Treaty of Versailles had reduced its size to a mere 100k with no mechanization and entire sections of the country would for a few months at least have their own NSDAP civilian governments setting taxes and policies. In any case the Reichstag no longer had any influence and Germany would be a dictatorship.
