I want to design and register a burgher's coat of arms for my family. What are some things I should know about it in terms of restrictions and the like for commoners? For instance, I wanted a hounskull bascinet on top of the shield, but I hear this is forbidden for non-nobles. I also wanted crossed bolt-action rifles from my country in WW2—is such a thing looked down upon?

>>18771834Which country? In most western countries it is perfectly legal for everybody to make his own Coat of Arms (as the monarchies were either abolished or have lost much of influence) but those of course don't come with any special privleges. In some western monarchies there are official state institutions when it comes to the creation and registration of CoAs but then those also come with privleges akin to copyright (i.e. only you are allowed to use your CoA) - see the College of Arms for the UK. But in most of the western world it really doesn't matter and you can do what you want as there are few laws regarding this. >I also wanted crossed bolt-action rifles from my country in WW2—is such a thing looked down upon?A bit cringe imo but do what you want.
