Is language what primarily constitutes an organic nation - whether that nation has consolidated into the modern idea of nationhood or not?

What makes an "organic" nation versus a purely colonial construct?

There's a problem with nationalism and that is that essentially you have 2 understandings of it.
There exists a kind of high brow understanding which is sort of nation as defined by law where they list all the features a given person should have to be part of it. On the other hand you have a very plebeian understanding of it which is far more genealogical and while you may think it's primitive it's actually the driving force of nationalism in general. It is this very understanding of it that leads to constructed African countries collapsing in civil wars over legally unrecognised tribal differences, the thing that drives ethnic pogroms, race riots and discrimination.

The legal forms benefit the elite, because they allow for endless expansion of their control, they can just declare someone a national and claim legal and administrative supremacy over him. It is however incredibly artificial. In Europe these two understandings roughly corresponded with reality, which allowed to use the very powerful concept of plebeian nationhood as a factor motivating national solidarity and self-sacrifice, outside of Europe there are sometimes situations in which the elites are trying to do the same without realising there's no such correspondence in their countries.

I think this is the understanding of a civic nation, as described in ethos vs demos, which is what most countries in the Americas are

I think Malaysia got a lot a flack for essentially giving citizenship to a somewhat good soccer player despite them being new to the country.

I agree with you that Nationalism and certain political structures of governance and administration that was exported by Europeans throughout the world face a lot of trouble keeping it together due to not being catered to that region of the world unlike how it was slowly developed and refined in Europe. Westerners cry about China’s apparent lack of democracy and free speech but generally authoritarianism has always worked over there, same with Japan and having the same party rule since the 1940s and now having a more xenophobic leader. India has always been a religious region first and foremost and people are surprised a Hindu supremacist party are ruling the area and how divided their votes are despite never historically been united for long periods of time.
