The Sheol of the Old Testament was actually a Hurrian goddess named Shuwala. She was brought to Canaan in the Bronze Age with the massive Hurrian immigration. Abdi-Heba (Servant of Hebat/Eve), a vassal king of Egypt in the Bronze Age, was a Hurrian. Metushael in the Bible means devotee of Shuwala, just as Metushala (Methuselah) means devotee of Shala, the Hurrian goddess of weather and wife of Baal Hadad.
And the goddess Shuwala is just a version of the Sumerian Ereshkigala, the queen of the Kgal, of the underworld. Hebat herself, who gave rise to Eve, was a Hurrian goddess from Mitanni.

The term Sheol in the Hebrew Bible functions grammatically as a feminine noun (which is unusual for place names in ancient Hebrew, but perfectly logical if originating from the name of a goddess). Furthermore, Sheol is frequently personified in biblical texts (as something that "devours" or "is hungry"), suggesting traces of an ancient deity that was gradually depersonalized and transformed into an abstract geographical location.

Judiasm contains polemics against false religions.

No surprise there, Jesus was a polemic against later day Judaism.
