It's very "photo realistic", if you were looking at this from 20 feet away you'd think it was a picture. The level of detail in each tree is impressive, as well as his understanding of 3D space and perspective. But it's just not well composed as a painting. The spacing and composition make no sense, it feels like the locations of the waterfall, rapids, cliff face, etc are an afterthought with no real meaning. It feels almost like a picture taken by an amateur. There's TOO MUCH detail, too much shit shoved into the frame, with no clear reason or motivation. Sanchez's work has a purpose. He emphasizes the soul's connection with nature, how the human is a part of the greater framework of the natural world, how man is but a small part of the universe.This? It means fucking nothing. It says nothing to me, aside from "nature is detailed and beautiful". He honestly even fails to capture the beauty of nature in many of his pieces. Complexity alone is not enough to make a work of art beautiful. Overall I'd give his art a 6.5/10. He has potential but should study under Tomas Sanchez for a decade and pick up Sanchez's sense of spirituality and composition. That is all
