>>833380strangler fig :Dthese things are awesome. they get so big several survivalists recommend sleeping up in them if you ever find yourself lost in the congo.it's also parasitic. it attaches itself to an already existing tree and grows off of it, that's why the trunk looks the way it does! it kills the tree and grows in the hollow center left behind, then it grows all the way up to the canopy.it's a keystone species, lots of animals eat the fruit. if you feel up to it, draw some kind of animal eating the fruit! you gotta look up some good references, even if only to see how awesome these things look
philcoxia rhizomatosa is a really cute, recently-ish discovered incredibly rare parasitic plant that comes from brazil. it's only ever been seen like 4 times, EVER so far. it only grows in a very select few sand dunes in an already pretty remote area. the soil conditions are so harsh where it lives that a carnivorous approach to nutrition is really the only way for it to exist. it catches nematodes with its sticky leaf traps, which are all underground! bet you wondered where the leaves were on this one hahai'm not even sure you could properly cultivate this one, it's circumstances to merely exist are just so unique.the flowers are also super cute, they're this adorable delicate purpley pink color but they'd still look great in black and white.

>>833406Nearly 2 hours, had to redo lots and study the structure. It kind of looks like the anorexic mini version of lily on land and I do note that I see this type of plant but the leaves are just normal connected to stem if I remember correctly. The plant is vertical, zig zaggy, and its leaves are mushroom structure which is weird. But hey if you plant to cultivate this wild plant, you need to study their environment so they germinate properly under the right circumstance. Background is nice, I assume that brown thing is, it died after blooming completely. The lighting and shadow is very great... The anther dots too, some deep, some light colour.... I have to ask this but did you come up from experience from the head or did you use a reference? Still... good art!
