Doodling is bad. It’s what makes people permabegs.

im starting to think lack of sleep / overthinking is killing my ability to draw. i noticed it when i was riding my bike after thinking a lot, i was so disoriented i almost ran into stuff. it could probably affect my ability.

Drawing isn't really my thing but i least i can try
It's a blessing being able to draw spontaneously like this; the older we get, the more we want to turn every drawing into a formal study. The pros get to make it because they got started where every bad drawing wasn't existentially crippling (i.e. Childhood).

>>7912483I've been thinking of looking into styles/methods that dont really use line art, something more painterly I guess? The sketching phase is always fun, but surgically placing down lineart is the most soulless, tedious shit ever, and I end up losing interest in the whole drawing. A sketchier/more painterly look also allows for more mistakes I guess. I know you can make lineart more interesting by varying the thickness of it, and varying the value (lighter areas become more like grey, white, or disappear into the background entirely), but it still feels soulless. Seen some "grayscale to color" timelapses that look interesting.
>>7950702You kind of draw like a 15 year old girl, ngl
>>7959382the trick is to skip straight to line art. if you can figure out how to draw without using guidelines, your sketch becomes your lineart, its what i do.and the trick to that is.. okay you know how normally, you use your guidelines as landmarks to tell you where stuff is supposed to go? instead, you use the stuff you draw as your landmarks that tell you where the next thing goes. like your eye tells you where the nose goes, and the nose + eye tells you where chin goes, etc. the eyes/nose etc. function as the guideline.https://files.catbox.moe/vgmeli.mp4 an example of me drawing without guidelines>>7959408they are, in fact, my inspiration
>>7959382like.. because your lineart is your sketch, it keeps the soul and charm of a sketch.oh yeah im silly i have a whole tutorial on thishttps://files.catbox.moe/5ngp8l.mp4
>>7957628Oddly flattered that my oc reminds you of him
>>7959382Carly Rae Jepsen - Sidewaysone more example: https://files.catbox.moe/wsm7ut.mp4
>>7959433I've seen people talk about how they get perspective correct this way, they use the lines already placed down as the perspective guide. I like how sketching lets you make low impact "testing lines". If I want to see how something looks, I can just place a very weak/grey line there to see. Once I have a lot of lines down, I can gradually begin making the ones I like stronger/bolder. With lineart, its all the same bold, strong, striking black color. There is no way to separate the testing lines from the lines you like, without fully erasing them I guess. Maybe I'll find a way to get best of both worlds, idk. I wanna use lineart since it makes coloring much easier due to being full opacity.
Perhaps I should write affirmations on a post it and stick it on the mirror like MJ does. >I EASILY DRAW heads from a low angle>I DON'T HESITATE TO DRAW heads from ALL ANGLES>LOW ANGLE HEADS ARE SO EASY >I DRAW LOW ANGLE HEADS AND GET IT RIGHT EVERY SINGLE TIME>I MANIFEST the low angle head
too much bellum crap
