FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
>>7940514left has more soul
>>7940514From SOVL to SLOPPA
>>7940514Yeah, knowing what you actually want to draw instead of some vague "I wanna draw" goal yields results, who knew.
>>7940514left is better
I don't necessarily like the direction he went, but it was clear he had a direction. This is a great demonstration of what you can accomplish when you set out with concrete objectives. Every artist should begin their journey by trying to figure out what they want to accomplish with their art and what steps are needed to do so. Everyone can make it.
It looks like he knew what he was doing but didn't know how to really use digital. He didn't even try to detail the one on the left and his hands are still small and shit. I wouldn't be surprised if he used a 3d model, hopefully he didn't
>anime girl in white voidi do not care
>>7940514>he started tracing sloppa
>>7940526>his hands are still smallYou are aware that that's a girl he's drawing, anon?
the cope on this board is so funny
>>7940514>pinup>vs>pinup with better rendermonkeyingYawnI might like the left better honestly
Two types of people: the ones that get mad and the ones that get inspiredBut this is /ic/ in 2026 and there's only the first type of person here
>>7940552They're mad because they don't have a shred of this guys innate talent even at the start of his journey.
>TRANIME garbage Just prompt it
>>7940514Right one looks boring because everyone did it using the same exact method of multiply layer, add/color dodge/softlight, erase stuff, blend using blending tools, yawn
>>7940514bro did not learn anatomy
>>7940514The one on the left already is a good drawing, but the artist didn't know how to utilize his skill. If you can't tell you're a beglet with an untrained eye.
>>7940514i hate these because how do we know left isn't just the worst thing he had drawn in that time period and he was on average doing close to right?
>>7940514Do not treat this as a demotivator. He fell into the trap of focusing too much on rendering that he neglected draftmanship. The artwork on the left is far from ideal (he needs more work on perspective and forms) but has a noteworthy amount of passion and individuality. Decent composition and gesture. The example on the right feels emptier by comparison. Pretty on the outside but not much going on inside. Somehow it feels like it has less weight and gesture.
>>7940514yeah Coronavirus lockdowns unironically produced several professional illustrators. I wonder which /ic/ poster became good since 2020 lockdowns
>>7940662None
>>7940514The only thing marginally improved here is the rendering, which i checked the actual tweet and the the artist said he actually said he practiced 8-10 hours per dayDon't get me wrong there's still a notable improvement but rendering is only a single aspect of drawing you /beg/s are just easily enamoured by eye candyDo you want it enough to practice 8-10 hours a day with no guaranteed results anon?
>>79406918-10 hours sounds about right. Industry professionals usually spend 6+ hours drawing and it's what they recommend for beginners once they get comfortable with the process.I don't really understand why so many digital artists fall into the rendering trap, though. Learning how to color and paint is surprisingly easy but it means jack shit if you don't have the fundamentals down outside of values. It's better to spend 6 hours a day nailing down drawing for a whole year and then focusing on color and paint.
>>7940691your first mistake is believing his claim of 8-10 hours per day of practice. Statistically speaking, half of the world is below average IQ. So there is a 50% chance he is below average. Below average people tend to not understand what "practicing" really means. Does he consider drawing for fun to be practice? Or only studying? Does he consider the fact that towards the end of the day he's probably suffering from burnout or lack of focus?I'm tired of people acting like art is an exceptional skill. It's not. It's just that there are many different aspects. But if your only goal is drawing anime girls, 8-10 hours for 10 months is easily over 2000 hours minimum. You can become an expert at anything with 2000 hours of study time. But I'm supposed to believe this claim? This guy is a liar or doesn't know what "practice" means. If you practiced math for 2000 hours, you know how many formulas, concepts, and problems you would be able to solve? But no, uh art is different because... IT JUST IS OKAY!
>>7940703Too many people use "practice" when they really mean to say studying/training.Indeed, art is not an exceptional skill or some kind of magical unique thing. Like any other kind of craft, it is something you must put intentional work into. It is something that requires actual planning with concrete goals.Drawing is just making something 3D on a 2D space. You make lines, then you connect those lines to make shapes, then make those shapes into forms, then connect those forms with a strong sense of gesture/flow/energy/direction. Then it's just a matter of composition. All you have to do is pick ONE aspect to focus on and commit to (with a corresponding subject), then switch to another fundie when you've made enough gains. Easy peasy.
>>7940514>drawing >look inside>painting
>>7940703I don't believe he did 8-10 hours of pure focused "practice" as well, I also don't think he said the words and meant for them to be taken literallyNo matter how dedicated you are you can't pull that shit off and not lose some productivity along the wayYou are right about art not being an exceptional skill, but you can't deny that some people are able to grasp the concepts of drawing better than others. That's why certain /beg/s get discouraged easily. I really hate the phrase "art progression isn't linear" but to some degree there's truth in that
>>7940714I sincerely believe that online communities should bully artists into focusing on draftsmanship and collectively crap on examples of renderfags. No amount of paint and color and lighting will cover up dogshit composition and dogshit form and dogshit gesture and dogshit line quality. And of course, not drawing from life.
this thread is hilarious and it gets only better when you remember you are on ic
>>7940514the forms are almost identical in complexity, only thing that changed is rendering
>>7940699>Learning how to color and paint is surprisingly easy but it means jack shit if you don't have the fundamentals down outside of values. You don't know what you're talking about, bud. People go crazy for highly rendered slop and colors.
Why are you expressing envy?
>>7940691Why did you give it troonshit lesbian lips
>>7940777Sorry nigga I don't dabble in weebshitAm I supposed to ignore the lips
>>7940691Never really believe anyone that draws 8-10 hours a day.>t. Used to draw 8-10 hours a day on weekend. You're really only productive on the morning and afternoon/evening. By night you're easily distracted. It's more beneficial to draw in the morning or whichever is your most efficient time frame. You'd get a lot done in 2-4 hour window when your brain is still fresh.
>>7940514He really did improve a lot in those 10 months but you can clearly see where his focus went if you look at it for longer than 5 seconds
>>7940780Yes
>>7940814My bad sensei
>>7940691why did you fuck up her face
>>7940514left makes me feel warmright makes me feel nothing
>>7940514The funny thing is that the main flaw of the left (the stiffness from not drawing joints) remains unchanged. The illusion of progress
>>7940514Great now it looks like 90% of twitter artstyles
>>7940867>>7940839>>7940780I usually draw my bitches with luscious lips
>>7940901The inbreeding is a real shame
>>7940516I was gonna ask why does the right suck, but then I figured it’s just because it’s generic as fuck.
>>7940617anime website kill yourself
>>7940514From trying to actually have fun drawing to tracing 3d models.>some people call this progress
>>7940691HOLY SOVL
>>7940514The reason you're all begs is that you spend all of your time obsessing over random artists
>>7940773anon, he's not wrong. It's just that normies have low standards and loves render monkey shit. They deem anyone who draws better than a stick figure "talented", the standards are lower or higher depending on the platform you're in.
>>7940714>>7940718Anon, that won't happen because normies don't give a fuck about draftsmanship. It's "boring" and doesn't activate their dopamine sensors like colors and light do. It doesn't matter how shit the drawing is, as long the colors are good, they will flock to it. It's like those bugs/flies buzzing around bright lights.
>>7940547>>7940733the left is good and the right is bad bitch
>>7940526Your ugly yaoi hands style is not appealing, roastoid.
>>7940714Painting is just drawing with a bigger mark. You lack the critical knowledge.
>>7940514A good deal of improvement, but likely a result of model usage, better references/influences, ambition for polish, and familiarity with the software. The most telling aspect, as it often is, are the hands. They have a traced feeling, but ironically have poorer sense of flow. The left hand especially seems to flail and has ambiguous intent. These are common traits of traced 3D model hands - even volume in the individual digits, but poor spacing between them. The hair bun is distracting. I'm not a stickler for rendering, but in this case it's the disparity in quality that is jarring.I'm not one to say silly things like "the left has SOuL!", but I think what people are noticing is that the left has a congruent style, every aspect is done with a consistent level of skill, and it possesses a certain kind of naive daring. That foreshortened hand says "I don't know what I'm doing, but that's what I want!" We can all appreciate that can-do spirit. The right says "this is what people like. This is what I'm supposed to do." It's formal. It's formulaic.
>>7940514This fucking narcissist probably chose one of the worst drawings from 2025.07 and one of the best drawings from 2026.05.Picrel is also the newest drawing he posted, it looks like he still doesn’t understand the fundamentals and probably 80% of time only practices rendering because it takes less effort to learn and makes his "digital" art look better than it actually is.
>>7940514anime is easy to draw and you are focused on a singular style. Western art has so many styles it's way harder to learn
>>7940514every single one of his drawings has the same cheap sunlight shading that makes his art look goodhe doesn’t even try anymore he just keeps using the same trick to make his art look good
>>7941127>muh fundiesPut this drawing in front of any normalfag consoomer and they'll say it's good.
>>7941127man, you can see the 3D model they traced over.
>>7941151This is not traced, the anatomy is fucked up.If you think it looks 3D it’s probably the fake ass rendering on face that just looks good but wrong
>>7940514
>>7941127Yeah, it's really obvious that bro did not improve much in the drawing department. Ironically he might have been better at feeling the form before. Also that ear is atrocious
>>7940545>>7941118it makes no physical sense with the hair retards
This thread makes certain particular people SEETHE not because of his improvement (he improved*) but because being a render monkey improved his art without improving other areas that need work. On the surface that’s fine, and perfectly okay for social media. But why does this thread sting these anons in particular? It’s because they put talent points in rendering, too, realizing anyone can be like OP image (and the seethers) if they skill up in rendering.
Been doing value studies and tried to do this one from imagination. Went to color and spent like an hour to realize I had no idea what I was doing. Am I at the point I could try to dabble in color or do I need to just keep grinding value
>>7941248Wait I thought I was posting in the beg thread, FUCK
