Hello anons, I fucked off far away from Photoshop and decided to see if I can use Krita for painting and sketching. Can you recommend any good tutorials?Any tutorials to achieve Photoshop-like brushes in Krita? Also, why the hell are there so few "traditional" illustrators who use it? It seems like a good programme.80% of the user base seems to be doing some anime or anthropomorphic bullshit. No! Where are the traditional artists?
I have nothing for your specific question but I'll just drop a tibit that threw me off for a long time.Smart objects? Krita does have them. They're called FILE LAYERS here.
>>7947715>>7947715>painting and sketchingYeah, you can>tutorialshttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uYdEkOyFUn8&t=1396s&pp=ygUOS3JpdGEgdHV0b3JpYWw%3D>photoshop brushesProbably is but if you want photoshop stuff, you should stay on photoshop>why the userbase is anime?Don't know. I don't know why you care. Start sketching and painting. Drop a work you've made with krita in the thread
>>7947715 I took a class in photoshop, and mainly use krita. They work similarly, and you should be able to do about the same things, it is just photoshop is more "advanced". Really, it doesn't matter what you use. Just start using it.
>>7947715>Also, why the hell are there so few "traditional" illustrators who use it?because it came too late. Krita released around 2006 during Adobe Photoshop CS3's reign. There's probably as many scanned porn mag and Adobe CS3 painting manuals.Traditional illustrators aka Concept artists didn't really flock to Adobe Photoshop because it is a good program. They flocked to Photoshop because it was way cheaper than Coreldraw back in the day. Krita didn't even fix it's bullshit brush engine until around 2012. Same year Adobe CS6 was around and starting to get bloated. Krita only fixed their Text engine last Month.
>>7947866>Krita only fixed their Text engine last Month.Even then it's not really "fixed", it went from one programmer UI to another programmer UI
>>7947777Thanks, this Revoy guy seems to be the guiding star of the Krita community. I will check him out. His work looks professional & top notch, I just don't like his style.>why you careBecause I learn better when the material and examples are inspiring. I can hardly get inspired by styles that I hate.>>7947833>They work similarlyI agree, there should be no problem with Krita. Tools are just tools. I just haven't figured it out yet.Example in the next post...
>>7947964Here is an example:I want to recreate the basic "soft round" and "hard round" brushes from PS. Soft and hard edges, the stylus pressure only controls the opacity.I think that the "Basic-2 Opacity" comes close to the hard edge brush.I guess the "Airbrush Soft" is my alternative for soft edges.I am not sure about the "Flow" and "Flow Opacity" digital brushes.I need to experiment more to get used to the smoother blending that I remember achieving some time ago. Tips are appreciated.PS: The large variety of textured and "bristled" brushes seem a bit unnaturally repeatable. Is it just me not being used to them?
