>The tip of my marker makes the slightest most gentle contact ever documented with the paper>It barely even touches the paper>In 0.0001 milleseconds a huge fucking ink blot is formed under the tip as if the paper is fucking sucking in the ink>Now this spot is dark and disgusting and soggy and nothing will ever fix itIs something wrong with the marker? The paper? I'm new to drawing with markers (I usually either paint with acrylic paint or just draw digitally), what the fuck is this???
>>7952102It sounds like a paper problem. Cheap paper will just soak up marker ink and turn it into a blot.
>>7952102What marker are you using?
>>7952102I have a small variety of alcohol markers. On some the caps are quite tight and when I finally wrench them free, the marker can throw a few droplets of ink. So I usually advise that people turn away from what they're doing when removing the caps. I suppose this means the tips can sometimes be more wet than at other times. Typically, one edge of my paper I leave to test markers anyway, so my initial stroke with a marker is never part of the intended artwork.I have a somewhat similar problem with ball point. A blob of blue ink will steadily build as I hatch, and then it'll leave a far-too-bold mark when I next touch the page. So for ball point, I keep a paper towel handy and wipe the tip every minute or so.
@chatwhat's a marker?
nearly sure its your paper. you have to get the kind that doesn’t bleed through. it’s more expensive but using paper not meant for markers/watercolors isn’t tenable for all the bleedthrough. marker paper + markers work wonderfully.here, like this, in your address bar:>nevermind, no matter how i reformat, site won’t let me link anything. search “marker pad” on amazon, that should fix things
Funny thing is I'm using paper specifically made for watercolors and markers. Yet for some reason it makes the marker color like it's really wet when compared to how it colors on regular paper. Like I can draw a line and watch as it spreads on the paper like it's actual liquid.
make copier paper bend to your will and not those fancy schmancy special papers. it's the only way.

Use Bristol board.
