How can one learn to draw similar to Araki's art style? I love JoJo's bizarre adventure a lot and I want to learn how to draw like that but my drawing is awful very bad is here any hope for me
>but my drawing is awful is there any hope for me.Araki used to be quite possibly the highest skilled mangaka in the industry until Murata appeared, so trying to imitate him is not that easy. He's a master in composition, character design, and color theory, and he's way above the rest in anatomy and perspective. You have to get good first or you will only draw abominations, there's no way around it. Once you get legitimately good, focus as much as you can on mastering composition, color theory, inking, air brushing, and facial features. If you don't want to put on the work, just kill yourself before you insult his craft.
>>7952837So how do I get good? I'm guessing that's the most asked question on this board but I guess I'll ask anyway
>>7952755>>7952861Here's what you need to do:the first month:>grind shapes and forms>do step by step tutorials aimed at kids>avoid chickenscratch, do continuous line drawingThen start drawing cuboid and spherical forms from life: furniture, toys, glassware, etc. Start copying comics, film shots, movie posters, anything and everything.the General Process:>do blind contours and gesture studies using live models or photographs>draw the subject from memory>collect references and break them down into shapes and forms>observe the references, then hide them and draw from memory, then draw while looking at themMisc:>negative space drawings>trace the reference, then flip it upside down and copy it on another piece of paper>flip/mirror the reference, then copy it>draw with your non-dominant handIf you want to draw like Araki, I would insist that you gather as much of his art as you can, and then copy his stuff meticulously. Make lots of master studies. Also, do what Araki does: his style is informed by fashion models and classical sculptures, so study those.
>>7952755araki is a true artist, his skill is far beyond any other manga artist alive today. his blocky and geometric anatomy is actually incredibly fragile and precise, attempting to mimic it will make you realize how advanced it is.
>>7952984Have you ever seen his earliest art? Shit's rough. He got so good at anatomy because he studied the shit out of sculptures and fashion models.
>>7952988ya its crap but its good crap and not bad crap. you can still tell he has excellent hand eye coordination and skill, none of his lines look bad and its visually interesting. yes his anatomy is awful but you can still see an understanding of form. there is a ton of potential here, he just got caught up in the style of the time instead of doing his own thing.
I love Araki's newer artstyle that he started using from late p7 to now but mid part 4 will always be the love of my life, that plus the funky panelling he used give part 4 and other surrounding parts so much appeal
>>7953007I was actually referring to his pre-JJBA manga. Early JJBA is wack, but it's still quite good. His pre-JJBA stuff is genuinely odd.
>>7952755Have you considered copying his work? At all? The most surefire way to incorporate another artist's style is to just fucking copy it as much as you can; this will also help you get an idea of how that artist attempts to solve certain problems.
https://jojowiki.com/Hirohiko_Arakiwow his wiki has complete references of what made him the artist today. Apparently this is what his very first attempt at oneshot manga at age 21 in 1981. Five years before he'll start he JJBAThere's your road right there. And you are even more fortunate because you have more access to art manuals now that people in 1981. Go for it
>>7953112Ok, his first editor is kinda creepy. Was Araki raped by him? Their photos together have sexual undertones.
>>7952977Wow thank you, this reply is extremely helpful and high quality
>>7952755I don't think Araki ever sat around thinking about how to learn to draw in Araki's art styleSo whatever you do, don't fucking do that.
>>7952755I admire his ability to take it slow and draw every little detail of a face. I just don't have that time or energy, especially since I'm not getting paid or anything.
