>Original vs my art
How can I improve?

The claws and the teeth in the original have more depth due to how they're shaded and how they're indented inside the body. Yours is much flatter in both of those regards.

Line weight based on lighting. Thinner lines closer to the light source.
Also, you removed the subtle overlay of his left foot over his hand. Removing depth. Along with his left eye burried in the back, you didnt ink it out. Also removing depth.

So try to think of drawing as creating the illusion of a 3D object. What do you want closer to the viewer and further away from the viewer.

you should trace it and see how your forms are off. yes your rendering and line weight could use alot of work but your forms are flat especially the claws.

Break down the reference into shapes and forms. Trace the reference and pay attention to how things connect. Do blind contours of the reference as well as negative space drawings and upside down drawings. Observe the reference then put it away and draw from memory, then study the results.

You’re drawing contours. Get a stronger understanding of forms and perspective, drawing 3 dimensionally. It may be hard to see but the drawing on the left has 3d forms, but is drawn with the contours in mind because the construction is already done.

make the entire thing a black silhouette and practice just that first. sketching is all about framing out the edges of the form you're getting confused on what that actually means.
Basically do you think it would make sense to start drawing agumon from his bones first? something that is completely hidden?
In any picture even of you, you don't have bones, you don't have anything contours of colored light.

Yours is superior.
Left side is the usual cutesy pap in a very unlikely pose. If you're going to draw an allosaurus at a parade, it should be eating the other participants.
Right side is a creature falling backwards off of a chair/cliff/bicycle wearing a bib, and they are very clearly both surprised and upset. You've taken the left and made it bearable. That's a skill.

It's like he asked chatgpt to take the original and make it more uncanny and unsettling
