I tried grinding the fundamentals (the retarded boxes, anatomy, gesture/construction etc) and got bored out of my fucking mind, making me take long breaks between studying. The digital painting technique is the only way I don't feel like killing myself whenever I try to make a drawing.

My question is how long can I get away with my lack of fundies if I plan on selling my work?

Is the girl on the left supposed to look horrific?
>>
>>7961994
Apologize now.
>>
>>7962002
No I will absolutely not, there's no fucking way this guy unironically used that pic to advertise his "teaching" right?
>>
>>7961991
>My question is how long can I get away with my lack of fundies if I plan on selling my work?

as soon as another professional artist stumble upon your work and scrutinize it lmao
>>
>>7961991
The art market is insanely unbelievably crowded and competitive. If your work is not professional quality you won't get anywhere. You can know if your work is professional quality by just taking one look at it and being honest with yourself. It's really not that hard, you just have to be willing to evaluate yourself honestly without bias.
If you don't have the quality then you need to keep working. If you are professional level then it doesn't matter how you got there, "fundies" or not.

Well I dont think its a finished drawing but the more you look at it there are quite few errors in it that really needs to be worked on.
>>
>>7961991
Cringix is an AI-shill and ultra woke, sadly.
>>
>>7961991
kek, sinix crabbed so many retards with his fake process videos, I love that little jew almost as much as that gypsy sycra

>painting like a sculptor
The irony is that sculptors start their works like a good drawing.
They use armatures which is analogous to gesture. They build out with large blocks that are refined down to specific shapes. They do a lot of division, measuring, and planning, and care deeply about symmetry and how things look from different angles.
This painting shows a very selective understanding of sculpture, to be polite about it.

>This is troll, right?
Picrel was the best I'd churn out as a whiney no-fundies turd polisher. It's mostly luck and there's a reason why I couldn't finish it.
>>
>>7961991
i think being close minded about drawing is bad, doing light and shadow takes longer, and its a lot more frustrating (imagine spending half an hour trying to sculpt some shapes, constantky thinking about how much of a fucking idiot you are for doing so little and getting angry random shit your bran comes up with because you are that fucking bored), but if you cant draw something well enough you might just accept that a more 2d brush style of things is the way to go
>>
>>7962117
are those both yours or are you copying a ref?
>>
>>7962117
the tree and background look good 2bh, you fucked up the figure by flattening and isolating it with lines and mismatched lighting

These are layers on the same picture. Its all the drawing I did before rendering. I was showing how little I cared for drawing properly. I think picrel was my main reference, since it was in the same folder.

To be clear, this is not a flex like "you don't need fundies bro".
This picture was me probably 5 years into being an almost-no-fundie retard. I studied values and color extensively while attempting to COPY anatomy (just visual, no formal studies at all). I disregarded form, proportion, compostion, and perspective entirely, basically, I had no idea how to make a picture other than "wing it". It took another 5 years for me to become halfway competent after studying everything else, but the imbalance of leaning on rendering alone for so long still fucks with me a lot.

Not worth it. Learn fundies.
>>
>>7962177
I appreciate that, but:
1. Those aren't meant to be lines LMAO, its the shitty sketch I did to place the character because I COULDN'T draw at all.

2. I know that the process involved excessive amounts use of the transform tool to make things look "OK".

3. I fucked it because I didn't study fundies.
>>
>>7962182
bruh, the parts you drew are the weakest, you fucked up your value and color perception with the excessive lines graying everything out, killing edges and throwing off your values
look at the tree, the values go 80% to dark and accents 90%, your figure bottoms out at 50% and is muddy shit
you do have a fundamentals problem, you also have a not knowing how to paint problem
>>7962187
the sketch is made of lines in the image that you were looking at as you "painted" which fucked up your perception
>the process involved excessive amounts use of the transform tool to make things look "OK"
every process involves that, I scrap off paint in trad and so did old masters
>I fucked it because I didn't study fundies.
no, you fucked up because you didn't study the actual painting process and shot yourself in the foot
fundies are good, ignoring technique and the actual mistake you're making is retarded, there's a reason you could model some forms but not others in the image

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!?!?!??!

>>7962196
stay retarded, I guess
>>
>>7962197
I appreciate you trying to help (?), but its a 10-year-old unfinished picture. It really didn't require critique.

In any case, It makes no sense to advise someone who admits they can't draw and just want to skip to rendering after scratching out a terrible sketch that they have a technique and process problem. The math aint working on that for me.
>>
>>7962236
So did you get better? Post something new.

Kinda, I shifted direction after learning to draw though. But I don't draw too often nowadays. You gotta understand though, from not being able to draw to drawing this is a big jump.
>>
>>7962279
I genuinely can't tell if you're serious.

>>7962282
Dead serious.
Now PYW.

Nah, I'm good, dog.
Yikes, by the way.

she's meant to be a weird looking elf so yeah she's there to show a completely "invented" face made from the principles of thinking planarly when painting
>>
>>7962289
Aww, what a shame. Really wanted to see a master at work. Nevermind.
>>
>>7962293
Okay.

Cool. Next time, STFU if you cant back up what you're saying.

Back up what? You said it's been 10 years and I asked if you improved, then you posted what I hope for your sake is some gay vendettafag shit.
>>

PYW faggot. You can't leave it all in me to prove my skill level when you wanna sit in a corner acting like your anything but a No-Draw.

Also, you think I've been sitting in a room drawing for 10 whole years? Are you stupid?
>>
>>7962316
How do you call someone a nodraw while calling him stupid for expecting you to draw in the same breath, are you having a meltie?
>>

Meltie? Until you PYW Im chilling dumbass.
