I just now found out that using rulers isn't cheatingI've been trying to draw lines freehand for 6 yearsWhat other obvious shit were you blind to?
>>7962629I found out that I love yummy candy whoooo
>you WILL draw the line freehand with no ruler otherwise you're a /beg/ 4evar
is this just one retard spamming the board with retarded threads or what? no way there are so many mongoloids here
>>7962647yes, same shartoid spamming nothing but bait
>>7962629That you have to just treat drawing like any other activity, where you actually just try to DO the fucking activity and then figure out where you went wrong and learn from your mistakes, rather than doing insane superstitious cargo cult rituals like “draw 5,000 one minute stick figures and then you will be able to draw anime girls”
>>7962745pyw. cargo occulting is how you improve
>>7962747If I was any good I wouldn’t be complaining about how I was misled for years. Duh
>>7962629if you rub a rubber with your fingers it cleans it
>>7962945Didn’t work I’m still black
>>7962745I figured this out after getting into other hobbies, along with other things.Reading made me comprehend the texts on midcentury drawing books better so I could make do better with the knowledge in the book. Piano made me realize I have to "replay" parts that gave me trouble (draw shoes over and over until you get it right) but if you get stuck on it, you should practice with basic pieces (if you can't draw shoes, you probably need to learn foot anatomy first) Singing made me realize that drawing freely without getting hung up on tiny details and as much as possible without polishing turds give you more mileage (natural voice will always be more soulful than autotune) History made me realize that to care passionately about the subject you want to depict is essential to your art, that story and context is the base on which your skill should grow.
>>7963023Oh yeah, and learning a language is always a nice reminder that even adding the tiniest little bit to your pool of knowledge exponentially grows your ability to create more complicated things. So always always always learn something new every day.
>>7962629>you need to do blind contours>you need to draw lots of shapes and lines and curves when you're first starting out>you need to take your time drawing>you need to do continuous line drawing
This guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSSeVOPr0Pwmade me realize that I could buy cheap stencils and use them as BGs instead of standard character in void when working traditionally. I've been doing things by hand and dreading having to get the symmetry right and all of that.
>>7962745Based. Yes, like every skills, the best way to learn is by doing the thing. You can have a good experience by just learning to do it the right way, or you can try other means and figure out if they work or not for you. Of course, with art related skills the stakes are incredibly lower compared to being an electrician where if you fuck up you'd probably die or some expensive equipment blow up.
>>7962629Fuck rulers. I just draw the line. It's more organic that way. >>7962629
>>7963333cute
>>7962631So happy for you man.
