you could use the very quick intervals to practice shape design. e.g. what does a simplified hand look like. what shape does the pec make in x pose from y angle. etc.

you have to be particularly mindful about how things relate to each other when working in that kind of perspective since its much harder to measure than when working with everyday poses and youre likely much less used to seeing bodies from those angles. perspective guides are a huge help. that said, you can cheat the perspective somewhat when doing these heroic poses from such extreme angles, and probably should so you can show off form without being shackled to foreshortening and ugly shapes. for example, the far leg not quite being in perspective (or if it is, not mirroring the near leg in how far out its placed -- see the little diagram) lets you avoid a stumpy looking leg. but if you push it too far things start looking off, as if some parts dont connect to the rest of the figure, like with the trapezius.

>>7968445
shouldnt really be thinking about it in the moment. you can look over the stuff later and pick out shapes you thought were good and aim for more like those next session or you can look at other artists.

There's a lack of overlap here, her left shoulder is far too visible when it really should be hidden behind the trapezius and ribcage. You should always think a lot about what would overlap what when drawing, a common mistake is to try "showing off" all parts of the body when really a lot more would be hidden than you think.
>>
>>7972160
thanks anon, ill keep all of that in mind and retry.. reference just for context. I can definitely now see what youre referring too about the shoulder
>>
>>7971197
Your lines r way too dark for just a sketch so its hard to tell what's going on, for sketching I generally recommend going over it with the lightest lines you can do first, and then using a darker line when you're fully confident in it, that way the final sketch will show what you've committed to at a glance.

Besides that, most of this looks fine but I have no idea what you're trying to do with his right arm, the right shoulder for example is indistinguishable. It also seems like you're switching between vague gestures and form drawing for different parts which I think can fuck with your frame of reference. Finally, his left shoulder doesn't really look connected to the ribcage at all.
>>
>>7972168
ok so how can I fix those problems besides the pencil darkness? I really am confused, also I was trying to draw the middle guy from OP's pic

>>
>>7974567
No. Unless you're drawing an extreme closeup or other kinds of special perspectives, the vanishing points for a face are so far away as to be almost negligible.
You also don't need absolute accuracy for organic forms, just enough accuracy to not break logic. You don't need all of the line sets to converge on the correct points on the correct horizon, but you do need the lines to seem to converge in the right direction.

like irl or watching judo videos and quick sketching? That's quick sketching, you should be thinking of coarse shape and gesture primarily as you won't have more than 15-20 seconds to get a pose on paper.

I understand the perspective is off, but I’m struggling to understand the angle and orientation of the pelvis and legs. Could someone redline this for me? He looks like he’s just standing up even though I know his ribcage is bent down towards us and his legs are bent up.

think of figure drawing like a handful of different pools of knowledge that you have to fill in order to start getting somewhere.

you have to (in no certain order)

get really comfortable drawing boxes. do this until the perspective starts feeling natural or intuitive (takes a while, but it is achievable)

learn how to draw confident and clean straight lines

learn proportions and ratios so you can set up your figures extremely quickly. this is helped by practicing dividing one straight line in half, in thirds, in fifths, etc.

learn anatomy (especially the skeleton) so that you build an intuitive sense of how big everything should be in relation to everything else, and how the body is connected together, so you can illustrate the muscles (you can't express a contour you don't know)

learn and practice shadow to help your figures have a sense of volume and depth

once you fill all of these pools of knowledge a little bit they start to flow into each other.

the last and most important thing is volume. draw, draw, draw. spend an hour doing 1 minute sketches. an hour doing 5 minute sketches. an hour doing 10 minute sketches. try to capture as much of the figure as you can within each time limit. practice for the rest of your life.

ok have fun good luck. don't draw anime.
