For me whenever I try to draw from imagination. I prefer to always use construction first before I could get anything done. However, whenever I study my favorite anime artists. I would use the contours of their drawings because it tends to result in more accurate results. Then I would add construction to it later, so that I would know how it could exist in 3d space or in other words, feel the form.

>>7966424Take my words with caution because I have only been drawing for 29 days. I think contour is a part of construction. It's a biggest shape, or form, that covered the whole character. Then you fill it with smaller big simple forms and check for any proportions, the angles, the landmarks and fix it. So at the end of the day it's still construction, you just added one step that involved accurately depict the biggest shape first. So it's cool. This is also what I'm trying to learn because it helps me with checking the proportions, angles, and stuff before deciding to add smaller simple forms.
