True artists do art for themselves, not for money.

>AI didn't replace me because I don't draw
>>
I was about to comment on brain AGI stuff but realized that’s even more expensive to maintain than just paying some Vietnamese 50 cents and hour to draw anime or whatever.
>>
AI can't replace me because my lack of talent makes my artstyle too unique to copy
>>
>>7966572
AI is already far too expensive to maintain, companies have been paying extremely subsidized rates. All the retard CEOs are about to learn when they have to claw back artists at a premium. All the dumbasses that quit practicing because they drank the doomerpill are going to miss the coming boom cycle for "return to authenticity" in the coming decade and a half where artists who actually have a skill set will get to reap the premiums of "collectors" and "human made art"
>>

Then you're not an artist.
An Artist is a profession, if you're not doing it as a profession, then you just draw or make art as a hobby, but you're not an artist.
Making art as a hobby makes you as much of a artist, as fixing your own plumbing makes you a plumber.
>>
>>7967584
It really comes down to ppl being so detached from how art was treated as a trade to make money before. It'd be nice different than going to a plumber or electrician trade school and becoming an apprentice. Matter of fact, the artists in the industry rn that ic loves to call soulless, are about as true to Renaissance artists as you can get. The romanticist movement is what changed the whole idea of what an artist was into the "starving artist" that does it for "soul". It was a literal coping mechanism that become pervasive as many artists were faced with unemployment once the market shifted away from patrons. It'd be no different if overnight Patreon shut down and artists were forced to compete against others artists and only those with the most skill or appeal won most of the commissions. The ones who couldn't, would cope with making art into a matter of identity rather than trade or discipline. It's also why art curriculums back then, and in places where art is still a viable trade, are much more rigorous and selective, than say, something like calarts that doesn't care about what you produce rather what you pay.

>The ones who couldn't, would cope with making art into a matter of identity rather than trade or discipline.
damn, you killed half the board just like that.
>>
AI will never replace any of you because looking down on permabegs can never be replaced by AI.
>>
>>7967601
Killed? Maybe, if they're fine with just having art as their identity. It's a coping mechanism. Meaning it's a way of continuing your existence as you find a way of navigating your circumstances. It isn't a death sentence unless you let it be. Unfortunately, for most of IC, something like this would be a death sentence, because they believe they're static beings incapable of growth or adaptation.

Besides, for most people art has really become segmented into "commerical artist" and "artist" with commerical artists being any artist in pursuit of trying to make a living off it, and an artist being someone who just makes art because they have that luxury. You know someone is cooked however, if when you ask them how they plan to make money, they respond with "artist" and they're like 4 years into it. You're not going to get very far if you're chasing a vague concept and not an actual angle for making money.
>>
>>7967621
>Killed?
what I meant you basically called out half of /ic/ for that behavior. What you said is true, but the fuckers here put more effort in their excuses than actually drawing.
>>
>>7967625
Right, and I didn't want to blackpill the people who actually do try and want to do something with it. I'm just giving them a massive reality check about what it is they're doing. Selling yourself the delusion of making it with art while rotting in squallor because some day you'll magically make it? Fucking play the lottery atp. If you're trying to make a living with art, you need to clearly define a fucking path and goal. You can't just blindly grind away at shit with a vague notion of maybe working at some studio or maybe blowing up on social media. What is your game plan? Why are you showing up every single fucking day? DEFINE IT. MAKE IT CONCRETE.
V I S U A L I Z E
THAT SHIT.
The clearer your goal, the better you will know how to approach it, what questions to ask, what to look for. The issue for many people on this board, is they don't know what the fuck it is they want! Do you want to make art for personal fulfillment, or are you trying to make a living off it? Fucking pick a side, because the whole tip toeing thing is gonna make you end up being 50 and wondering where the fuck time has gone
>>
>>7967584
This is next level crabbing lmao.
No one is listening to you jeet
>>
>>7967639
No one is taking away your pencils, or saying you can't make art, retard.
You just can't be an artist if you aren't making money with that art. To be an artist, money has to be a consideration.
You just want the nice title, without actually earning it.
>>
>>7967584

>artist
>noun [ C ]
>uk /ˈɑː.tJst/ us /ˈɑːr.t̬Jst/
>someone who paints, draws, or makes sculptures

Please stop pretending that your headcanon definitions of words are real. What you mean are professional artists.
>>
>>7967646
Not everyone who picks up a pencil is automatically an "Artist", it's true. There have always been posers who have falsely claimed the title.
Making art for a living is one way to earn the title. You can also be an Artist while having a day job though, if your work is sufficiently high quality and/or appreciated by enough people. It's a fuzzy line, but we know it when we see it.
You are just a hyper demoralization AI shill who's salivating at the idea of no one being allowed to call themselves an Artist for the rest of eternity because AI has made it so no one can draw for money anymore. Regardless of whether that future will ever actually materialize or not, we see through your ruse and no one takes you seriously.

>plumber /plŭm′ər/
>noun
>One that installs and repairs pipes and plumbing.
Huh, money isn't mentioned in this definition, so I guess anyone who has dabbled with fixing their own pipes can be called a plumber?
Any amateur interested in car can be called a mechanic?
Anyone who can play a guitar a musician?
Of course not, ya dumb faggot.
A hobbyist isn't called by a profession's title.

>>7967720
>You are just a hyper demoralization AI shill who's salivating at the idea of no one being allowed to call themselves an Artist
Nope, I hate AI. Better luck next time, retard.
Re-read my posts, and actually try to get a handle on what is being written. I am simply saying that being an artist is a job. A job revolves around money. Thus, true artists do the job for money.
What has my point about a job title got to do with demoralisation? How does the job title effect anyone's ability to draw or make art? Stop being a fucking moron.
I'm not an artist, but I like drawing, and I'm going to continue drawing. Are all of you going to give up simply because you can't give yourselves a prestigious false title?
>>
Lmaoing my ass off at the retards getting caught in semantic arguments. End the conversation, go draw and forget you ever have a fuck. Congrats, you've just won
