No they're not, retard. Screentone is sheet with pigment a that can be applied to paper to get a pattern.

Which is what you're looking at there.

Japanese manga artists are still using zipatone on their comics, to suggest patters, shading, texture on their black and white illustration.

That artstyle is furry with zipatone shading to save ink for Printers.

Yes, which is also what it's called digitally. It has a fair few names actually; Halftone (as opposed to colour halftone), and as the other anon above said it's also called zipatone (which I believe was a brand of screentone that became a standard name, like kleenex have for tissues with americans).
So cool it with cooling people retard, when they're actually reasonably correct.

>to save ink for Printers.
It's not really to save ink, so much as it is a technique to only use one colour (black). If there's grey tones, now that requires mixing colours and such, so rather than doing that, everything is kept black by suggesting different tones with the patterns instead.
So using one colour saves on costs for the publisher, rather than saving the printer money, as printers don't really charge on amount of ink used (but they do charge for the number of different inks used), nor are printers editing people's work so that they use less ink (though such practice may have been common back in the days of stone lithography or woodcuts).

Nobody mentally stable calls a result the name of the tool, you nigger. It's just a polka dot pattern that may or may not been done using screentone. And halftone is a different process altogether, it has nothing to do with this, and there is no halftone and color halftone because it's literally the same thing done 4 times over same area with different pigments. Walk off a cliff please.

So you admit you're demented pm2.5 infused ESL jeets that think any word ending in "tone" refers to the same thing? Your street shitting vocabulary collapsing kind should be wiped off the face of the Earth.

Homeboy Actual factual mangaka refer to the process as 'toning', not 'adding polka dots'. That would imply adding much larger spots, instead of the hundreds of tiny ones that make up screentone. What kind of pointless ass argument are you trying to pull? How can this even be an ESL issue if the people who coined a term are Japanese? What would you even be right about?
