Krita or Clip Studio Paint?
>>
What?
>>
anyone who says anything other than gimp is crabbing
>>
Krita has a higher ceiling but steeper learning curve
Clip studio is simpler but has a lower ceiling
Also krita shows you a cute squirrel every time you open it
>>
I think CSP is best if you want to draw manga
Krita is probably better if you want to emulate trad
PTSAI is light weight and good if you want a mix of trad + digital
Photoshop is probably best for after effects, not sure how it is for drawing and painting
>>
> no one mentioned sai
This is a living proof that this board is for permabegs and people who don't draw

Crab mentality, I know you either don't draw or want to gatekeep OP from good software. I came here and revealed it, now you play your typical games with me.
>>
>>7971808
SAI is far from perfect tho. Especially the smudge tool it has is terrible. It's good enough or line art but coloring with it can be a struggle.
>>
>>7971808
other anon was first tho
>>
>>7971810
I think the dev will fix it eventually, especially if people will actually buy the software. But your point is valid, my friend was doing coloring in a different program sometimes because of it
>>
>>7971814
All I can say is that their reply appeared on my screen after I posted mine -_-
>>
>>7971799
woah never heard of SAI, this feels awesome. why didn't anyone mention this sooner? thanks anon!
>>
>>7971770
just use drawpile
>>
>>7971821
Yea it's pretty intuitive aand straight forward without nonsense.
>>
>>7971821
Primitive app with barely any support. You are fucked if you are using a display that's bigger than 1080p
>>
>>7971825
I thought they had an option for scaling in v2
>>
>>7971770
I find it interesting that CSP has a SVGA preset resolution. Does this mean there are Japanese that still develop games for older machines or they have a market solely for that?

Krita obviously and it's not even close.
While Krita has one downside and that's not having separate brush for Eraser. CSP (paid program, getting your basic settings done is annoying also i would like to bind my rotation per degree on specific button but nope, can't be done Krita have this by default, limited CMYK so if you print your art then bye bye and more.) CSP is not a bad program but it have it's annoyances same as Krita.

Krip Saitudio Photoshopaint 2

I never saw anyone use, or even mention "Clip Studio" in the industry.
It was all Photoshop.
And I was the only weirdo who experimented with Krita.

I've paid for the Pro version of CSP and tried out many different programs for years, and I have to say Krita is by far the best program I've used.

I like to draw traditionally way more than I do digital, and no other program has given me the feeling of doing so as much as Krita has, however, if what you want is full image editing power and clean stuff, go for CSP or Paint Tool Sai 2.

Here's an image of some of my stuff on Krita and CSP for comparison.

Corel painter has completely fallen off the face of the earth, huh. It had fun mixing engine from what I remember.

Sorry but they're both kinda dogshit. I guess Krita is only great for people who don't really draw that much with deadlines to chase.

I've been meaning to re-make this list so this thread is a good excuse as any. Trying different art programs is one of my favorite past times, I don't have an Ipad so I haven't tried all of them but obscure ones like Art Weaver and Project Dog Waffle? TwistedBrush Studio? You name it, I've looked into it. Since the thread is about Krita/CSP I'll start with those two first 1/2
>>
>>7972123
What’s so bad about Photoshop?
>>
>>7972123
Pretty good list and I appreciate you taking the time to try out all these apps but I cant help but notice you placed mspaint in D tier when it should be in S+ tier. Easy mistake!
>>
>>7972125
Why would I use Photoshop over any other program? SAI/SAI 2 are the best at blending, CSP is incredibly customizable, and Krita is the best free animation program with the best brush texture engine. What does PS Even have? It's not lightweight, its brush editor is dogshit, and it doesn't even feel particularly good to draw with. In a world where I can do everything Base Photoshop can do and more with Affinity means that PS as it is today is redundant and antiquated. The only thing keeping it above Current day MSPaint is that it at least didn't remove features I actively use.
>>
>>7972125
Nothing, they’re just stupid and lazy. It’s genuinely not hard to pick up and there’s a reason it’s still widely used by everyone. Not that it’s perfect, and adobe are basically acting like slumlords at this point but one can dream photoshop gets bought out by a company that actually wants to try to fix the mess instead of passively collecting income. If they fixed the fucking memory leaks that have been happening since ps 18 it would already a massive QoL change. These tier lists are stupid anyway, and it reminds me of blender users desperately shilling it despite it’s gaping flaws for production work, who spazz out and fight everyone who’s not using it.
>>
>>7972171
Thanks fren, I love having a chance to talk about drawing software but almost never get the chance to so this is nice. As to why I don't have paint higher is a two fold thing of I think for pixel art you have better niche options with features specific to pixel artists and I have fully converted to the kult of kolourpaint. It's so good bros. Everything Paint 98 did the best PLUS shortcuts PLUS color indexing and a huge ass undo history and God like text tool? It's so beautiful. My only wish was that it was available for windows but I've switched to bare metal Linux so I'll live, but it makes it hard to recommend to others.
>>
>>7972125
The author of the tier list is using the latest version full of aids instead of CS6 from 2012.
Remember, drawing software and hardware has only gotten worse in the last 20 years.
CS6 is the peak of Photoshop.
>>
>>7972190
I've used CS2, 3, 5, 6 and CC and of all the versions Id Say that CS5 was probably the Peak of Photoshop. I'll at least say that I enjoy using wet edges as a brush setting but once again, Affinity has this now so what's even the point of using Photoshop?
>>

Why are FireAlpaca and MediBang on different tiers? It's been a long time since I've used either, but the few differences I can remember are FireAlpaca having a GIF feature while MediBang had its own community website/brush store, otherwise they were pretty much the same
As for Rebelle why did you think it was bad? I'm considering buying it
>>
>>7972232
Because rebelle requires you to know what the hell you’re doing, and no one here actually draws. When there’s no guardrails it’s easy to fall of a cliff.
>>
>>7972232
The fast answer is while Firealpaca and Medibang are 80% the same program, Medibang tries to be a manga first drawing program and I find it to be a subpar one. And since Firealpaca gained a lot of it's toolset I don't see the point of it. It's at least an okay mobile program that I prefer over IbisPaint.
>>7972282
I'm a watercolor artist I can tell fake texture and blending as easily as I can taste the difference between aspartame and cane sugar, and the experience is just as vile. There's also the matter of simulators being total resource hogs which I also can't stand. A complete waste of time, I'd rather buy M. Graham and be done with it.
>>
>>7972123
>aseprite
Good god I like and also hate that app
>>
>>7972429
I won’t dispute that rebelle is really taxing on your computer and most people don’t have a bit beefy computer to draw with, but I still think it’s a great and fun soft to use.
>>
I use Photoshop 5.5, with filters, and its older than 75% of y'all.

:D
>>
Its not the program that makes the artist, no, It's whether he chooses to draw.
>>
>>7972123
>The literal industry standard photoshop
>D tier

Look i also hate jeets and how bloated it is but c'mon, easily the best brushes and best drawing engine.
>>
>>7972794
>easily the best brushes and best drawing engine.
Has never once been true. All of PS's brushes are variations of stamp brushes with opacity/flow and a godawful smearing brush that feels so tacked on. AND there's not even a way to adjust the global brush pressure inside like in Clip or Krita, what kind of 'industry standard' is that? Industry standard just means that Adobe never feels compelled to make any improvements.
>>
>>7972867
Industry standard is literally just what the industry uses. So, photoshop. Doesn’t mean it’s amazing or good.

And for all it’s faults, photoshop is still easy to use and gets the job done well enough, so it’s still popular.
>>
>>7973070
I brought that up as a refutation as to why I didn't put Photoshop higher than D tier. Being industry standard or popular is not something I consider when making these rankings. I just truly don't think Photoshop is stand out or necessary when it comes to modern digital art programs.
>>
>>7972031
Proof that the program you use does not matter.
>>
>>7972498
For me, its Resprite. But yeah I dont think its A tier. Its okay... not great not terrible. Really annoying at times though. Btw I paid $0.00000000 for it.
>>
>>7971770
>Krita or Clip Studio Pain

More like Krita or GIMP and that'd be both. Why? Same reason you have a fork, a spoon and a knife, different tools for different tasks.

>There are sporks too you kno-

I dont care, I want them separate and thats that. Also if you cant draw something at the very least decent on GIMP, you are the proto-megalo-permabeg of legend, he who shall never improve.
>>
>>7973159
but CSP isn't a spork
>>
>>7973159
If I need to be able to at least use gimp, Why would I need Krita? couldn't I pair it down to 1 program then? I think there's a world where both can exist and support eachother, like chopsticks.
>>
>>7972867
INDUSTRY STANDARD, EVERYONE ELSE NEEDS TO CATCHUP SIMPLE AS

File: Apps i have used.png (140 KB, 1140x522)
140 KB PNG
I have used these apps, made brushes and assets in all of them,
personally I use Clip studio but it doesn't really matter cuz I have my own brushes that i have ported to other apps easily
Krita is more capable than CSP in some areas but it's alright
