What camera do you use or just a phone. What about those stands ?
>>
Yandex. Google image search is a piece of shit that usually shows low quality versions of every image and you have to go to their host's website to see it in high quality

>What camera do you use or just a phone. What about those stands ?
You are over thinking it.
>>
I downloaded tons of galleries from e-hentai with a browser addon.

Yandex is the last good image search engine and so few people use it, it’s odd. Like people want to use goober images instead. I don’t get it.

I thought the same.

That aside, I use my own hands as references all the time.

Quality of camera truly does not matter at all for 2D art refs, any phone is fine.
I actually did order a tripod to make it easier to take pics of myself from odd angles, haven’t actually used it yet though.

pinterest is fucking ass stay away from that shit unless youre into clanker art cause thats pretty much 90% of what youre getting. other than that, e-hentai is pretty good for general art refs thats my go to if i need to get anything in bulk
>>
>>7974331
pinterest, google images, duckduckgo images, startpage images, yandex, wikimedia, sketchfab (GOATed), instagram, reddit, other mangas, other comics, movies, google arts & culture, taking pictures of myself, the /ic/ torrent

there is an option in pinterest to disable (known) AI generated picture results
>>
Nowhere. If a reference exists, then it's by default stiff and overdone.
>>
>>7988236
>I don't know how to use artist specific references, therefor every single thing on this earth that I could possibly draw from is stiff and overdone
>>
>>7974331
Pinterest, mostly.
>>
Is there a good reference site for like moderately attractive people in street clothing? Something like that site with all the white trash from the county fairs, but more normal. I'll see people in nice outfits that I want to draw out in town all the time, but if I were to look up a similar style, it'd be an instagram thot wearing a super slutty version of it 9/10 times.
>>
Google
>>
>>7974331
ai is good for genning references if you have a local set up
>>
>>7974331
Everywhere pretty much, if I see something that inspires me I'll draw from it.
>>
>>7974331
3d models are the best refs. prove me wrong
>>
i buy antique photographs
>>
>>7989254
Check out street walk videos on YouTube. I used to sketch to those. Useful for seeing what people are actually wearing in different countries
>>
>>7988239
correct. if you know how to transform and add life to references then you dont need the reference. Its a catch 22.
>>
>>7989308
kill urself asap
>>
>>7974331
do you guys know of inexpensive sources of offline drawing references? do you just buy up lots of old magazines and shit? i wish i could separate my hobby of drawing from the internet completely and go all trad and all offline references.
>>
>>7991338
Where I live there's a Uniqlo nearby that hands out free catalog books, pretty decent for everyday clothing inspiration. Also been thinking of stealing a few mags from the barbershop I frequent, they have a lot of stacks nobody ever takes off the rack and probably won't notice one or two missing anyways.
Maybe go to a museum and take pictures of things yourself too?
>>
>>7988167
It also doesn't let you search certain words

sketchfab (+ the browser extension to download any model) is great
recently also learned to use RenderDoc to download any model from any website
it's slightly more convoluted, but pretty useful
>>
>>7991704
Isn't render doc just a frame capturing software? How does one download a 3d model from that? What's different than simply recording your screen with obs and rotating the model around in full screen?
>>

>>7974331
I don't practice using refs anymore. At this point it's all from imagination. Also because I mostly draw highly stylized illustrations and not realism.
>>
>>7991785
yeah it captures a frame, and as part of that you get the whole model and textures sent to the gpu
it's different in that I can setup the light(s) and camera from any angle I want using blender, including those that weren't possible in the original website's 3d viewer
