I believe social media engagement doesn't mean shit. Half the likes I get are from bots and indian and Nigerian scammers. So I'd like to be able to expose my stuff in galleries
I could paint traditionally but I don't wanna buy a fuck ton of material and equipment and learn a new medium that's incredibly messy
So I'm wondering if you guys ever seen digital painters being exposed and selling high quality printed paintings in auctions or whatever?
I think the trad art world is probably really annoying about using any digital tools because there's a risk of it being AI now

I know there's an artist called Hana choi who sells printed paintings
She uses procreate on her ipad

Digital has strengths in print that you should take advantage of.

yeah but you need IRL connections to galleries or a big social media following

The trad art world is purely a social club for the rich and/or connected.
If you know people then you can do whatever you want. If you don’t then you’re out of luck.
It’s 99% networking and 1% artistic quality, so if you actually want to try to break into that world then you need to make that your fulltime project, I’m sure there are guides out there somewhere. It will help a lot if you’re a woman or a nigger. If you’re a straight white male then you’re probably fucked.

i'm sure there is modern galleries with screens instead for that exact purpose.

I've seen digital artists being advertised in Japan with prints. I guess if you do a really good print like giclee or whatever you probably also could sell it. It just obviously can't be as expensive as a real original.

That's one of the fun things about trad for me. I love finding some new tool I didn't know about before or just go hunting for colors/paper/brushes. Unless you go for the real expensive stuff it's also relatively cheap.

Nah I'm not gonna go to the store every I run out of white paint
Fuck that
On my tablet one click on the color wheel can save me an entire trip

I mean yeah I mostly always use digital for coloring too. But there’s something fun and comfy about going to the store. I at least like going there for pencils and sketchbooks

I’m sorry that I enjoy interacting with reality instead of staring at a screen 24/7
