I've been lurking since last year. When it first re-opened it was so exciting. Tons of people wanted to participate and have fun. Then mods began to purge at random. And so it went, poor management, stupid and uninteresting challenges, severe lack of new blood for an entire year, and begs. I'll admit I'm a beg myself. There's maybe 15 people in there that have any real skill. Of those, maaaaybe 1 of them will post or contribute anything once a week. 80% of the server occupants will never participate in anything. 10% might drop their art into the gallery and disappear. If they want to be fun again they need to start aggressively bringing in new blood, and not from IC of all places.

That's how many anons came to know these threads, and the whole board, were organized and farmed for the purpose of inane drama.

Nowadays it's not that bad anymore since most anons left because they have figured out /ic/ is just a drama bucket getting farmed by the mentally ill, but couple years back every socials thread was shitflinging and drama to no end and the discord groups are slowly dying out because there is no new meat to feast on and no one takes their bait or most of them finally killed themselves.

I grew my account with cross-posting from rule34. pixiv. newgrounds. And Instagram.
At-least 1 tag on Twitter/X.
I would also draw pictures for others for free from 4chan.
For 500 followers it wasn't worth it.

If i had to start again in 2026 I would've given up. Steal somebody's else's account or use bots. Become a reaction channel.

Your art is fine, but you should fully embrace coom if you want to draw coom. Emphasize the important parts and study your favorite artists
Drawing fanart is pretty necessary unless you have a somewhat established account or are godlike, which 99% of artists are not. Fanart of series or bigger artists similar to your current style and content are ideal, make sure you actually like them and aren't just drawing because you feel like it'll grow your account. Have unrelated art already on your account for when people click to it. It's extremely hard to gain a following from 0, so don't feel too bad. Post on Newgrounds and have your other sites linked, they frontpage anything decent
