Stopped drawing for 2 months and now I don't know where to begin learning again. All of you constantly talk about this so tell me how you keep goin every time you give up and then come back. I know I'm still a beginner but if you tell me to read "fun with a pencil" it'll take the wind out of me. I've read that book 5 times already.
honestly, i’m an eternal /beg/ i’ve been starting on and off since i was a pre-teen, but the one thing keeps me going is looking back at what i’ve done before as a reminder that even though ive taken a break im still improving slowly. I always have to relearn the fundamentals, like learning how to draw a circle correctly but its like riding a bike.but what you really have to ask yourself is why are you coming back? is it because you like drawing? you want something out of it? once you can answer that, it feels easier to keep going and kind of feels like you have a goal.
I have to relearn everything from step one after taking a break.
>>7983796Thanks, I know i dont have to start at the very beginning but I appreciate any advice thats not "read x again" even in the end I gotta read it again.
>>7983806Sounds like hell. Ill just never take a break again.
>>7983695Just keep doing it. Take pictures you like, draw those. One of the most important things to keep sharp is your mind in all this. I try do a short animation (20 seconds) every week (realistically every month lol) but I do that and I get at least one or two backgrounds, lip syncing (and acting yay!) and character design practice all in one. If you don't care about animation, maybe just a comic page or something. Just something that you get done in a few days that will give you a wide range of practice. Keep a sketchbook around often and keep what the skills you have sharp.
