to answer your question: i think that, as artists get more popular, they increase in technical skill and flow but the increased volume they need to keep up with for commissions and paysite-fagging ends up eating away at whatever attention to detail and love for the craft that being a less popular hobby artist afforded them

Don't forget not taking the time to go out of your way to still use references and draw from life.

Popular artists tend to fall into the trap of relying far too much on imagination when they feel they've "made it" or that they've "learned enough".

Kinda ironic because immature artists tend to either depend on references too much (your typical professional male Youtube artist) or overly depend on drawing from imagination (the classic Deviantart/Tumblr scene).

I tried to see why this face felt off, and I think I got it. I made some changes, basically, it was a mix of proportion and perspective issues. Let me know if you guys think this face looks better.

-made both hair & eyes follow the correct curve
-added more volume to the back of the head (cranium was too small)
-corrected the eye spacing (it was too off-center and close to each other, although it might be a style thing)
