I'm reading Berserk for the first time and it seems to be an almost perfect mix of /beg/ and /adv/. How does this happen?

>>7984738It's due to the insane publishing schedule Miura was on. A lot of the arcs like black swordsman, golden age etc. released their chapters on a regular schedule. And it was enough of a success that it bought Miura enough good will to start taking bigger and bigger hiatuses. He then slowed down dramatically, and got really into playing idol master. By the time we got to the infamous boat arc, we were down to one chapter a year for like a decade there. And some years didn't even have them. Being a berserk fan was like being stuck in purgatory. But because of the huge delay in getting chapters to his editor, Miura was able to produce some of the most insanely high quality art. As opposed to the previous arcs where the art is consistent and high quality but clearly done with a deadline in mind, so it's not over indulgent in detail. (Stuff like pic related)Then around the time boat arc ends Miura goes digital and the quality takes a weird nose dive for a short bit. He eventually gets a good grip on digital and the quality comes back up but it's never quite the same. Then Miura fucking dies and another really reputable mangaka takes over and the quality has been capped at a certain level, though remains consistently good imo.

I think you all forget that these drawings are coming from inside his head. He doesn't get a reference to look at, he doesn't get another artist's work to look at that has already done all the work for him and all he has to do is copy, these are all almost exclusively from his imagination. Calling these beg or int tier just shows how out of touch you are because 99% of you could not shit one of these out even if you wanted. I'd tell you all to do a study on one of these, not even drawing your own panel in his style, just copy his work, what's already been done for you, and not a single one of you would be able to capture what make his stuff good. Now remove having to copy his stuff and try to just make your very own panel in a similar style, now do this so that it creates an interconnected narrative, now do this for multiple arcs for decades on end. That's why none of you are Miura and why none of you will ever have such dedicated haters.
