This isn't some zen, "limit your screen time" shit either. If you're just doing the art to see the virtual numbers go up, it was pointless to begin with. The ability to support yourself because you provide something others value is far more important.

Twitter was 60%+ bots before Elon; that hasn't changed because the site thrives on faking activity so businesses believe they're advertising is worth the golden checkmark.
On youtube and instagram, you start getting sponsored deals if you have numbers, even if they're fake.
Recent statistics say that a great deal of internet traffic is bots.
Recently i've heard that a whole political hashtag was outright botted since some institute did some research and found out a lot of accounts were posting the same exact message at the same time.
Then you have scraping bots, other random bots made by people to do shit like tag or collect/save anything in specific tags.
You even have bots on every major site arguing people, spamming and on 4chan even keeping generals bumped.
Anything with pornography? Guaranteed 90% bots.

Botting is such an open fact now yet somehow we're expected, or even outright demanded to still give a shit about literal imaginary numbers, when everyone who noticed this shit has completely checked out from this fake game.
Once companies pull out because advertising and paying money to "advertise" to bots isn't doing anything, bot sellers and influencers will hopefully kill themselves.

You should stop getting follow4follow people completely once you surpass ~1000 followers (assuming you aren't also following 1000 people yourself, because then you'll still look like another follow4follow account and keep attracting them). When I was starting out and getting big follower gains from images I'd usually lose 1–3 followers over the following days. These were always follow4follow people who wanted a follow back and didn't get it. That completely stopped once I reached around 1k followers.

Twitter actually weighs your follower-to-following ratio. If you have a high follower count but follow few people, your account is ranked higher in the 'algorithm' or whatever you wanna call it, and vice versa. There's also the fact that having a following count that's higher than your follower count makes you look less 'legitimate'. Someone who's following 0 people but has 200 followers will usually look more legitimate than someone who's following 1000 people and only has 500 followers. If that is the case for you, when someone mouses over your account they're just going to assume you're using Twitter as a fan of other people rather than as an artist who wants to grow bigger, you know? I'm not sure if creating a new account or unfollowing everybody would be better since I don't know your circumstances (ie if you're shadowbanned I'd say just start over) so use your own judgement there. Same for all of my advice, I don't know much about that stupid site so don't take my word as gospel blablabla. Hope that all makes sense
