Do you think the enjoyment of designing your own characters and creative drawing in general is genetic/innate? Do you believe you have to enjoy it on some level to maintain the drive to get good at it?

I ask because oftentimes I see people here and elsewhere claim that they hate drawing, they just wanted to be good at it, and with no innate talent or drive, were somehow able to push themselves for every second through hours of practice doing something they hate doing and became professionals. Which I believe is utter, complete horseshit. They just want to downplay the ease with which they took to this field and that the whole time they were secretly having fun. Thoughts?

sounds like a coping mechanism

Interest is always genetic. Some people are just interested in art while others are interested in cars or whatever.

You still can be interested in art and at the same time don't really enjoy making it tho. If you have depression you don't really enjoy anything no matter how much you actually like it.

BS
We develop interests through early socialization. It's 99% about nourishing the 1% of innate talent.

You sound like one of these naive hypocritical communists who act like all humans are the same. Interest is genetic just like IQ is genetic. Many people have no sense for art because they are low IQ dumbfucks.

This is my art actually and it's a billion trillion times better than anything you'll ever draw in your pathetic existence

On some level it is yeah. I do think that people have innate preferences. But you shouldn't just use that as a cope to give up. You are capable of intentionally shaping your preferences to some extent. You can learn to love something even if you don't love it that much initially

What a stupid fucking thought to waste your mental energy on.

i love drawing, i've been drawing all my life
