Are any of the animation programs aside from Procreate Dreams on iPad any good?

I've been animating stuff with base Procreate for a long time, but I'm extremely limited by the lack of multiple timelines and audio imports. For the longest time I was hoping Procreate would implement that so I was pretty excited to see them make Procreate Dreams... only to try the program and end up feeling this UI is a nonsensical fucking nightmare. How the fuck do you go from having something as streamlined as the animation assist in Procreate to this weird ass jumbled mess where I can't just fucking start out with one frame and add new ones as I go and open up the timeline and go back and fourth between two frames to check them. I am so fucking confused. Why do I need 4 fucking different modes, what other fucking animation program does this shit. Just let me fucking draw.

ANYWAY. I've tried Toonsquid as well and much much much more prefer that layout, but the brushes are kind of dogshit and I'm struggling to draw anything refined looking with it. Got any tips? Any settings I might be sleeping on, or any other decent animation programs on ipad?

Pic related is a short animation I made in Procreate, and here's some old unfinished WIPs made in Toonsquid. First one is mostly drawn in procreate with the drawings copy pasted into Toonsquid, second one is with the drawing made entirely in Toonsquid.
SFW (there's a gap between 0:56 and where it picks up again at 1:35)
slightly NSFW
>https://files.catbox.moe/8zn0yr.mp4

Ultimately want to draw animated music videos. However I'm both struggling with finding an ipad program that allows me to make good looking art with a UI not designed by aliens, and how the hell to optimize the filesize of my works without sacrificing the quality.

just learn to read the position/time Graphs intuitively anon-san
they're the basis of everything tweening related
as shitty as adobe animate is it has inbuild presets for ease-in ease-out alongside handy graphs that you can tweak for further fine-tuning
aside from that im sure you can find old livestreams of tween animators doing their workflow live
i believe minus8 had a few streams but he had a menta breakdown n 404'd everything
tracking them down gonna be a bitch n a half but there should be a few dedicated archivers out there
study minus8's work to learn the limits and strengths of tween animation incase you haven't already

finally moved on to making a filthy evil p*rn loop with spine
still very much getting used to this workflow and im not very confident with my approach but it's somewhat starting to take form. the good thing about this program is once i get the animation down i can draw over all the assets to add shading with minimal effort so thats cool
choppy versions with just keys and no interpolation and smooth version is just the same keys but with default ease in-out interp slapped on top, obviously needs cleaning but it's workable. no idea if this is the normal workflow for this type of program but it's what i got

1. I got bored with the limitations and restrictions of AI. There's a ton of things the AI struggles to gen, such as multiple characters in specific situations and doing specific things with specific facial expressions and emotions. The AI can gen things close to what I want, and it can render things a lot more nicely than I can, but it can not recreate the vast majority of the scenarios in my head 1:1 and there are some things it simply doesn't understand. After I had genned a bunch of niche characters I like in some sexy outfits and niche situations... honestly trying to come up with new things that the AI wouldn't struggle with just became a chore.
2. My PC can't really handle doing animated AI gens locally, and I really don't feel like paying money to do it on some website that probably has a bunch of retarded restrictions on what I'm allowed to gen.
3. I draw because it's fun. Honestly the biggest reason I went back to drawing after trying AI for a while was just because the things I can animate is more fun to draw than sitting around trying to think of the right things to write to make the AI stop being such a bitch and actually do what I want it do.
4. I'd be more open to using AI as an assistant for things I'd want to outsource (cleanup, coloring, shading, extra between frames etc) than relying on it to do the important things. Once we have AI that does those things, I think both the animation industry and hobby animators are going to adopt AI into our work process a lot more commonly. Until then, AI animation is only really good for short funny clips and occasional fap material.

I think the movie Klaus is a perfect example of how I want AI to be integrated into animation in the future. That movie was completely hand-drawn, and then they created a program that could calculate the shadows angles of all the drawings after manual input by the animators on each frame and apply the shading automatically and very consistently. This was before AI genning

Depends, many indie jobs but they dont pay well, in anime if you draw well and know how to fill a xsheet the jp way you go a job since they are desperate, but it also wont pay well until you have more credits to your name

If I owned a factory that made paper and I had to fire a guy, would I rather fire the guy who knows how to operate one of the machines or would I fire the guy who knows how to operate one of the machines and everything about how the machine works and why?

Just admit that your resentment towards artists is because of a sour grapes mentality. It's to to explore AI as an alternative way to express yourself anon, but it's not a replacement for learning how to draw and animate. You will benefit much more from learning both drawing and how to use AI.
>>
Does Youtube still do the whole "This animation has cute animals in it, so we're going to mark it as made for children and turn off comments and there's nothing you can do about it" thing?

I have an animation planned that could be too long/large to upload to a places like e621, but the idea is sfw so I could upload it to youtube. However I am a porn artist, the characters I am using are things I have drawn porn of, and I like leaving the door open to having adult humor in my works. I however have a style kinda inspired by animal crossing, meaning I draw cute animals.

Is my stuff going to be automatically flagged as for kids if I upload it to youtube?
>>
>>8011013
You could just do what some animators do and just have some character yell some random obscenity/slur in the video so its AI algorithm doesn't flag it while reviewing the audio

The issue is AI just looks like crap. Image-based AI has hit its wall of diminishing returns ever since 2024/2025. Now every company is focusing on the general intelligence of AI over more ancillary tasks. Also, when people can tell an artistic work is blatantly AI, they won't respond well to it, and rightfully so. So you'd have to spend probably the same amount of time polishing every frame to remove all the artifacts AI produces. And then there's also the problem where telling AI what you want is no different than telling a person what you want. No one truly knows how YOU want to frame a shot, how you want the lighting to look, how you want the character to look exactly. And finally, there's the issue where AI will just start to produce random bullshit that you didn't ask for. Ever look at those AI videos where a guy is talking, but the other guy's mouth is moving? They still have these issues and you have to spend hours trying to get the right result, and tokens are not cheap. If they ever start pouring money into it like they did in 2023 again, I'm sure all my arguments will be moot, but until then, I'd rather just animate by hand.

You'll definitely make a lot more stable animation with digital drawing, though if you're hellbent on doing handdrawn animation on pen and paper you should probably first of all invest in animation paper among some other things
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ6aXaCJu6c&t=19s
(things like equipment to hold the paper in place or to light it up so you can see the previous paper, and a scanner to upload your finished drawings)

You can do animation without a light-up board and some old animators used to do that, but it is more difficult. Aaron Blaise for example is still very fond of using the flipping technique.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ter8lLajzOk

I do also in general recommend a lot of his animation tutorials and guides on his website (creature art teacher). They go on sale pretty frequently, or you could probably find a lot of the tutorials on pirate bay or similar.

(pic unrelated)
>>
I feel like animation is easier than drawing. Been drawing a scene with 3 characters for several days, trying to figure out all the anatomy and perspective and volume of the characters...

Today I decide to start animating the drawing, and immediately it's like a fucking weight off my shoulders as I can stop giving a fuck about making sure the scene and the characters all look correct and I can just draw exactly what I've already been doing but in somewhat different position and it's just fun. All the massive tedium gone, just fun.

Because I don't have a rostrum camera that traditional animation used. So I'd like help with that. Very cheap options if possible.
>>
>>8018770
Well I don't do traditional paper and pen animation myself but my guess is you'd need a scanner to transfer your drawings as smoothly and accurately as possible to a digital format. I'd also reckon that if you can't afford one, it's not impossible that your local library has one you could use.

Thank you.
Your snake lady has a pretty neat flow (especially with the ponytail. I have trouble with hair even with timing charts, so kudos. ^^)
Yup, had to scan all of them individually and combine them using ezgif (and the poppy website for the 2-3 morphing effects) before importing them to Capcut.
The last few seconds with the helicopter seed, though, were done with flip a clip.

read the post anon
it's a folkrore monster that enchants men and can only be identified by backwards feet
added tidbit is that her footsteps in the mud lure fleeng victims right to her rather than away from her

are there any programs for clipping together animations without any loss in quality or arbitrary resolution/fps changes?

I'm doing an animation in procreate, which is about 6 frames. Because of how Procreate's retarded timeline works (only one timeline, frames are layers, for a frame to have multiple layers you have to group layers into a single frame, and you can only have a limited amount of layers per animation)... if I want to make a repeat of the same loop but with my character blinking their eyes I would have to make that a different animation and then edit them together in post.

Now imo this should be easy right?
I have one 6 frame animation and then I have another 6 frame animation and they both have the same FPS, doing 1+1 = 2 should not be a huge fucking issue right?

Well Procreate can't fucking do this. When I port them into Toonsquid to do it, then without fail even if I save the animation as a high quality lossless .mov animation when I port it into toonsquid the quality still gets raped. Similar issue with Microsoft Clipchamp, and I don't fucking know why.

So is there some other decent program for just fucking putting two .mov files together and saving it as an mp4/webm so I can upload it to 4chan without absolutely raping the quality?

I am 22 and my only job experience is being a volunteer artist since high school. I constantly get accepted into volunteer roles but rejected when I apply to real jobs. I literally work for free and live at my parents house. Is it over for me?

i fucking hate zoomers so much , ageist and complete fucking retards.
>>

nta above you but tbf we grew up constantly being told that and shown that every successful person was this prodigy that became successful by this age. It was pretty normalized and treated as something every single person should try to achieve. Its honestly not unexpected that we've all suffered this mass psychosis of running out of time when growing up deluded us into thinking we should've had everything solved by now. The lack of opportunities to make progress in any aspect of life doesn't help either

draw instead of larp or cheat already like the br and the frenchie, normies can't tell the difference anyways.

I might start a patreon in the future and i plan on using audio from copyrighted material in my animation clips posted there.

To avoid being reported/sued, would a workaround be simply posting the animation with no audio, then underneath it posting a catbox link of the animation with audio?
>>
>>8029158
Patreon doesn't care, people post unblurred and uncensored reactions to full copyrighted shows and anime on there all the time.
And there's no point to suing for that, they would at most send a cease and desists, but if you take it down as the cease and desist demands your good.
Just post with copyrighted audio
>>
>>8029226
Maybe I'll bite the bullet. Hopefully the cease and desist order doesn't happen cus if this works out I could make quite a mint for a while. I hope it works out

any video editing app would do that, i use davinci resolve which is free, and it looks like theres an ipad version too.
if you're serious at all about animation though it's time you got a proper PC/mac workstation. If i were stuck with only my ipad i'd go crazy

I kind of hate how everyone in my generation just accepted the "loser generation" identity. Like my guys, WE need to get our shit together if there's going to be humans on this planet in 50 years.

Dumb question but have you considered just getting procreate dreams?

as much as I want to, I am poor as shit and on welfare right now. Can't really afford any of the tools I'd need to draw on my PC. Only reason I have this ipad and pencil is because my family got it for me as a birthday gift many years ago

I got it and I hated it. The layout differs way too much from both base procreate and every other animation program I've ever used. They fixed my main gripe of the program not having a move selection tool (which how the fuck do you miss a feature that's been part of MSPaint since fucking windows 98) but I still just can't get used to this fucking layout. I don't know why it's forcing me to zoom in on 30 second segments when I want to draw and then have to manually enter some other mode to do simple timeline adjustments, and I was even fucking struggling to find the button to just add a new frame. Base Procreate was streamlined to a fault and very easy to learn, but Procreate Dreams feels like it's been designed by fucking tentacled space aliens.

I really enjoy the layout of Toonsquid and feel that program has a lot of potential, but man I struggle a lot getting the brushes not to feel and look janky.
