I want to see everyone’s taste Whose art do you prefer?DaVinci/MichelangeloPicasso/Basquait Edward Munch/Van Gogh
>>7990697>DaVinciI love his drawings.>MichelangeloNot a fan of his paintings, sculptures are on great of course.>PicassoHate him, such a forced meme.>Basquait Lol.>Edward MunchProduced 1 single meme-painting, thats it.>Van GoghLove this guy, his biography alone is KINO, what a fucking weirdo. His paintings are very nice, his drawings are probably even better.
michelangelo not even closepicasso, i prefer the finer control, not my thing but certainly it demonstrates something finevan gogh, the japanese/eastern influence created such fluid features i really like
>>7990697>DaVinci/MichelangeloRaphael
>>7990697Do a hard one, like:Waterhouse/Bouguereau
i only like myself. everyone else is inferior
>>7990697i dont give a shit about any of these people, honestly
>>7990707>BasquaitLol.?
>>7990697I don’t particularly care for any of them. If I was forced to choose, Edward Munch/ Van Gogh followed by DaVinci/ Michelangelo. Picasso/Basquait look like dogshit
>>7990707Personally I love Davinci’s drawings more than his paintings but love his paintings more than Michelangelo’s
>>7990883>Personally I love Davinci’s drawings more than his paintings but love his paintings more than Michelangelo’sThats about right.
Greatest piece of art for me. When I first saw it, still very young, I felt mesmerized by it.
>>7990697Renaissance painters are overrated but still great.I genuinely like some of Basquiat’s stuff a lot.
>>7990892>Greatest piece of art for me Completely understandable. It’s such an iconic painting, you could put it practically anywhere and people would be happy
>>7990906How the fuck are they overrated.
>>7990781Mood
>>7991013are you seriously asking someone who likes Basquiat’s stuff?I like outsider artists, but even I wouldn't stoop that low.
>>7991013Their technical advancements in perspective and anatomy are obviously of unparalleled historical importance, but the art itself is just kinda… kitsch? That’s very reductive obviously, but that’s how a lot of it feels. Like the Mona Lisa is JUST a portrait of a woman. That’s it. Pretty simple. You had to wait until at least the impressionists before artists really started diving into aesthetic/conceptual depth and experimentation.
>>7991013Overrated isn’t the word I would use but I understand the overall sentiment. I’d say it’s more oversaturated. It set a technical and aesthetic standard for art but at the same time it doesn’t explore a lot of themes. Like the other anon said the Mona Lisa, as amazing as it is, is still a very simple concept. This isn’t a bad thing, the era just overshadows equally if not more important art movements like Impressionism
>>7990892Yep, Starry Night is a masterpiece (unlike Mona Lisa)I'm also a sucker for the Ninth Wave
>>7991098>Starry Night is a masterpiece >(unlike Mona Lisa )?
>>7991101did I stutter?
>>7991109Critique it
>>7991120No
