How did Inoue go from low /int/ in Slam Dunk to high /adv/ in Vagabond?
>>
>>7994932
He's only missing line quality and style here. Both of which come with mileage. Pretty common for high talent but inexperienced artists.
>>
>>7994932
probably had more assistants and more forgiving deadlines
>>
>>7994932
He was already really good from the start. I think shit Slam Dunk scans make you underestimate his skill level.

Vagabond was drawn (painted) on larger paper, easier to add details.

this might surprise you, anon, but he "just draw"-ed for 6 years.
>>
>>7994971
No freaking way, he drew consistently? For six years?!?!? There has to be another way.

Being Japanese

brb in 20 years, rerolling life.
>>
drawing a lot every day helps
>>
>>7994932
Vagabond is based on a novel so he didn’t have to do much work writing and he could just focus on drawing.
>>
>>7994932
back then all you had to be was low ini and consistent. Most people couldn't even do that.
>>
>>7994932
Low /int/ but in comic format on a tight schedule while also writing a story is much harder than an /adv/ one-and-done painting for twitter likes btw
>>
>>7994932
That's what it means the "just draw" meme phrase. Being a mangaka/comic artist, forces you to draw the same shit all day every day, non-stop, no rest, no escape. You're bound to refine your shit by sheer pure and unadulterated infinite iteration. You can't escape the never ending grind, and the mangaka/comic artist grind is the most brutal out there.

Does anything good ever come from constantly classifying yourself as beg, int and pro and preventing yourself from ever doing anything until you reach some arbitrary skill goal? I honestly feel like sometimes if I didn't discover this place during covid I would've made my own stuff already that might've done fairly decent even if the art wasn't outstanding
>>
if I was placed in 90s japan I would have made the biggest manga of all time, easily surpassing top 3. And I'm talking original ideas, I would deliberately not step on the toes of upcoming series.
>>
>>7995211
Since you missed that chance in time, can you tell us about your story?
>>
>>7995230
I would write something from scratch when I get transported there.
