people post too much art evolution that's just total stagnation or a straight up devolution, these do nothing but demoralize people here, especially /beg/sITT lets post good art evolution that shows how fast you can improve when you actually try and enjoy the process
Same character 5 years apartand I stopped drawing for around 2 years in the meanwhile
Is this the Ran thread?
>>7995232i think the main reason people consider this devolution is that the artist started making her tabard drape over her tits instead of hugging them closer so you can see her cleavage, nipples and underboob through it.
>>7995265if you have any other examples of artists drawing Ran throughout the years it'd be very nice to see
>>7995232Ok but seriously what causes someone to stagnate for over a decade? Drawing the same thing over and over again?
>>7995302>what causes someone to stagnate for over a decadebecoming comfortable and refusing to challenge yourself.
>>7995232It was all downhill after 2016
>>7995232>cow tits>human ears>tareme eyes>smudgy rough paintingsorry, but i like mizuga a lot better. he can draw one hell of a kagerou
>>7995302I used to work with kids and I spent a good part of a year helping an art teacher in the classroom. Here's why stagnation happens: >specific fundamentals are neglected>drawing from memory too much>sticking to the same angles and subjects>lack of targeted/consistent study>not drawing consistently (or on the flip side, drawing too much)>not (properly) using references>focusing too much on finished piecesIf you want to rapidly improve at drawing and avoid stagnancy, you need to: >make drawing a consistent habit>get comfortable with just sketching and observing, even if you don't finish every drawing>use references properly (meaningfully trace - take note of proportions and how things connect, break refs into shapes and forms, etc)>make studying specific: make exact goals (ex: I want to copy Toriyama, I need to improve at perspective, I wanna get better at drawing heads) and study it throughout a week. repetition and memory drawing of your chosen subjects are keyI think what really screws over progress is how seductive Painting/Color/Rendering is. I have worked with WAY too many kids who are making fast gains only to just flatline the second they start painting and coloring. If you don't have a firm grasp on shading, form, and values BEFORE you get into painting, you are more likely to get stuck.
>>7995430There's also the trap of constructive drawing that analytical/STEM/autistic types tend to fall into, particularly the boys. Girls tend to stagnate because they dismiss Logic entirely when it comes to learning how to draw, whereas boys tend to stagnate because they think learning how to draw is nothing but Logic.Girls usually dismiss learning the finer aspects of Constructive Drawing whereas Boys dismiss the nuances of Observational Drawing. If you want to improve, you must get it out of your head that drawing is something you can either purely feel or think your way out of. It is both. There are no cheat codes to it (drawing boxes, rendering, etc), the only solution is internalizing the process of learning, working hard (and working smart) and being emotionally vulnerable.
>>7995451>>7995430I will leave you with this advice: avoid painting/color until you are proficient with values, shading, and form. Observational Drawing (1 Year) ---> Painting ---> (1 Year) ---> Constructive Drawing (5 Years)Observational drawing is something you should learn first with DRSB followed by Kistler's Cognitive Drawing or Marc Brunet's DRAW method. Then learn how to paint. Afterwards, start the constructive drawing phase. This is when you'll be studying forms, drawing boxes in perspective, drawing forms from memory, and breaking down refs into forms. Constructive drawing is when you'll be refining and deepening your observational drawing skills, so take note of that. Do not neglect the Cognitive Method/DRAW method, using references, and the fundamentals. If you feel like you're still stagnating, go back and study the fundies.
>>7995457ok now pyw
>>7995302Anon he's just drawing standard anime pinups for over a decade. Not exactly pushing yourself to improve there. But it's not even bad progress. You call it stagnation, but he did improve. It's not mindblowing improvement, it's standard. It's a realistic expectation.
>>7995478Whoever this is has real talent, holy shit. I'd vote for him if he ever became the president of an art society or anything else.
>>7995637being for real for a moment, the one with the deer is great
>>7995457You make your bait to easy to see (frog + AI slop)
>>7995232If I post mine, I would just humiliate myself. It's like almost everyone has a linear path beside me>>7995232>picWhat happened to this person after 2016?
I think instead of getting better at drawing I've just replaced hiding my mistakes with actually painting thoughtfully. It's more pronounced with my character drawings but I don't have the folder with my old drawings right now. Might post that later.
I swear I've seen this exact same thread
