SAI 2 updated after almost 2 years of near radio silence with a new dark mode and some cool stuff like halftones and a lasso fill. It's pretty sick

>>7995238i think it was a twofold issue, first was that on pre-gui computers text on a black background was necessary due to technical limitations of the day. so light mode would have come off as more sleek and futuristic in the original guis. the second thing was that computers were primarily used for word processing and graphing, and white was the color of paper, so this would have been seen as more true to form for depicting its real life equivalent. it was only after another 15 years that this became seen as old and dark mode was the new sleek kid on the block.

Anyone tried both azpainter and sai? How do they compare. I mainly care about performance since I’m using an old laptop.

>>7995273I've tried both before. I think Azpainter has a lot of potential but needs a cleaner interface. There are too many windows you NEED to have open like the filter list two separate options windows depending on what kind of tool you're using. You also can't rearrange anything and there's no option for floating windows. It is pretty good on resources since it's so small but if you're laptop is from the last 15 years or so you don't have to worry about SAI being a memory hog or anything.If you can run these specs you'll be good

>>7995311You can always backup the whole folder if you're concerned, and there's the beta update to go with new alpha branch version that's based off the last stable release. I can't really say for sure just how buggy this version is because I'm running SAI 2 via linux with bottles, but I don't think I've ever had any file corruption using the dev builds.
