Dear anons of /ic/, what do you do if you know how to draw on a technical level (technical as you know what how draw) but have no idea what to draw. But not as in drawings block but rather head empty, no idea. Creatively bankrupt so to say, what do you in such a situation, asking for a friend.

I look for requests in several /co/ threads, but it's extremely rare that my interest gets piqued at all. So I dunno.
>>
>>7996031
Just draw what you like or find interesting. Or draw some abstract nonsense shit. It's up to you. It's definitely helpful as an artist to have interests tho. Could be anything, girls or robots or dinosaurs or coca cola bottle caps whatever.

Quit and become an engineer instead.

I know it sounds cliche, but, it’s harder to be creative when you’re young and haven’t experienced as much. All creativity ultimately has its roots in things you’ve experienced, either in your real life or in other works of art.
You need to have a certain fundamental sensitivity and receptivity to what life gives you though. If you don’t have that you’re probably fucked. I don’t think that part can be taught.

Oh I'm fucking depressed so that might be a reason.

Actually it's easier to be creative when you are young. It's just harder to find inspiration and know-how when being young. However nowadays young people mostly have inernet so they have it way easier to learn and inspire themselves.

I wouldn't know. Because I'm a veritable wellspring of ideas

The average age for producing world historical artistic/philosophical masterpieces is around mid 30s to early 40s. Mid 20s would be quite precocious, teens to early 20s is virtually unheard of. You just haven't lived long enough at that point.
This is in contrast to STEM where it's not unheard of for people to produce their best work in their early-mid 20s, because STEM relies more on raw processing power than it does on accumulated wisdom.

But how do I know if all those "inspirations" are simply copies in the end?

its called curiosity

Artists are usually more like a diamond in the rough when being in their 20s which is more interesting. I don't care what you consider "historical masterpieces".
It's the same with musicians. Their albums are mostly also the best when being young. The first 2 albums are usually way more energetic.

That#s what the internet is good for. You actually can use it to research about such stuff. Back then the best I could do was buying obscure obscure atbooks at concentions or buying some boring "how to draw" books made by mediocre artists. The internet makes learning art wayyyy easier. That's why young artists nowadays get better and better.

Depends on your definition of creativity. But with something like storytelling and to some extent visual arts you really need to experience the beat down life gives you in your 20s and 30s.
>>
>>7996575
But I don't want to be a copycat, I want to create something of my own. I don't want to draw fanarts of, let's some anime girl till the day that I day. I want to create something myself.
>>
>>7996630
I have experience the beat down of life since birth. Not everyone grew up as sheltered as you.

Being really original is very difficult. Most of ideas have been done before. Your main job is to just add your own spin to them. Every artist builds upon a whole history of other artists.

You learned to draw by drawing and studying technique, your imagination skills will also improve when you exercise them and learn about creativity.

Congratulations on being the most oppressed person in the thread.

I despise people like you OP

why anon
>>
>>7996031
Then you don't draw until you DO want to, or you get a drawing job/do commission work so that people tell you what they want drawn.
>>
>>7996031
people who say they have "no creativity while having the technical ability" overestimates their actual skill more often than not

Repeat until you get something you want to draw again.

I feel the same way everyday. What should i do? I cannot come up with something original or get inspired.

Creativity is the relationship between your minds library and an object.
