The pen pressure and dynamic brushes are absolute ass in gimp. That is if you even manage to get those to work in the first place, because getting it to even recognize your tablet's actual inputs might be downright impossible. You can't even adjust layers without potentially breaking your whole work. I refuse to believe the gimp dev has drawn a day in his life.
The onyl time I ever used Gimp was when I made a screentone with a repeating pattern. It's pretty good for that.

Artists are not scientists, there's no need (or point) in being able to depict the universe exactly the way it is, you just need to be able to communicate an idea. You also need to build the muscle memory to be able to tackle harder things, so even dogshit drawings can help you build your skills.
