So this might be a dumb place to ask, but what's the difference between these two perspectives exactly assuming the dick is 45 degrees to the true vertical? I tried mocking it up in blender but the focal length options confused me.

blender uses a 35 MM camera for focal length, which is your typical film camera used to shoot scenes featuring human-sized characters at a distance of 2 to 5 meters. i'd recommend doing a quick overview of the film industry just to understand when they use certain things.

i sometimes make turntables of star wars ships and i've found the angle of thr 35mm too sharp for big 80+ meter ships.

the millimeter difference is the physical diameter of the circlular lens. it doesn't exist as a physical option in blender, but blender is designed to mimic real life as closely as possible.

basically, the wider your camera (the bigger the diameter of lens), the more spread out light it will capture, which will make images appear to have less depth due to distorting light less, but it will also more accurately depict larger objects.

there is an option in blender for orthographic camera mode, and that basically just means an infinitely wide camera with zero lens distortion. this is what you'd use for floor plans or character sheets where you don't want a cinematic feel.

Assuming the focal length is the same, the only thing that changes is the size of things relative to the veiwer. Not entirely sure what you want to know here.

The "easy" explanation is that at low focal length numbers, close things appear very large and far things appear very small, i.e. your classic fisheye perspective.
The high numbers are the opposite, with everything flattening out, and background elements far away can appear much larger than they would normally.

What a fucking retarded thread. As already mentioned, few second search would have explained everything. Focal length is the distance between convergence point in the lens and an imaginary 35mm square. It forms a triangle. The longer the focal distance the narrower field of view. If you haven't slept in math class you'd know arc tangent function can be used to convert that ratio into an angle. So just flip the setting to degrees in Blender and fuck off.

i don't feel like spending an hour drawing dicks from the pov of a homosexual furry. so here, i'll give you this simple diagram instead. the blue line will represent our picture plane. the red will represent dick rays going to the station point. the green cross-section will represent it's vertical height on the picture plane of the dick.

i haven't got a clue what the fuck you're doing.
for your blender mockup, just give your camera has a 35mm lens or if it lets you choose the degrees give it a 60 degree cone. perspective drawings tend to keep shit within a 60 degree cone of vision because when you go outside that things start to distort.
