Assuming you have the drive, of course. I couldn't because I'm lazy but it seems reasonable if someone has a teacher giving them tips and really wants to learn even if they're not naturally talented.
I'm asking because people are acting like this was a massive feat in the replies and I don't know much about drawing but the face is straight-on and the staff seems traced off a 3d model.

if you zoom in it looks like shit

anyway even if you dont zoom in, the idealized version is attainable.

Both look like AI slop.

keep in mind, comment like these come either from tradfags who are into birds/animals or deviantart fags with sonichu type quality of "art"
>>
I would follow the artist on the left. It has a lot of potential and I would enjoy watching the artist draw and improve over the years.
I really hope the two images are not actually from the same artist because that's a downgrade.
>>
>>8002949
yes, IF you're a render monkey. Improving rendering is super easy and people like op pic rel would focus on that because it's the "fastest" path to make your art good enough for normies.
>>
>>8002949
1 year? average person? no, that would take an average person at least 2. someone with a bit of talent and being focused on that kind of end result, plus feedback from a pro, they could do it in 1 year.
>>
>>8002949
What is 1 year? Why does every retard count drawing progress in years when one person's year is 200 hours and another's 4000 hours. Of course you can reach that result in a year. If you follow a study plan/course and beeline for a specific result it won't take 500 hours.

>>8003060
low cognitive resolution, you will never make anything of note be it rendered or not
>>
>>8003308
Probably because the education system runs on one year timers so thats the closest point of comparison someone who has never done self directed study has
>>
>>8002949
yes, if you notice on the right it looks like a mishmash of references the artist didnt really understand. its passable but there is a ton of room for improvement.
>>
nobody posting in this thread can draw anything close to the right btw
>>
>>8003060
fuck you mean its easy I got no idea where to even start. Light sources, texture, hard/soft edges, brushes, subsurface scattering, translucency, reflectivity etc etc its complete brainfuck. with anatomy you can at least just rattle off joint by joint limb by limb parting it out by location
>>
>>8003397
form is more important. learn form and do things in greyscale, see how light interacts with 3d objects, you are overthinking it.
>>
>>8003399
>see how light interacts with 3D objects
yeah that was the part thats not clicking. not even if i try to break it down further. Like I know shadow is on the side facing away from the light source, if the planes are transitioning more gradually the shadow edge will be softer and I have heard you're supposed to add texture details mostly at the edge between light and shadow. I feel like my shading is in the right place when i do cell shading but it completely crumbles apart the second i try getting any deeper
>>
>>8003404
thats tricky cause you arent providing an example and using alot of technical jargon. have you tried feeling your way through? copying other artists?
>>
>>8002949
There's an infinite amount of step by step tutorials that teach you how to render like AI slop, hell even chatgpt can pull out a decent list of instructions if you ask it how to (and actually a good chunk of the time they're easier to understand than actual tutorials since most artists can't explain themselves for shit since they were dogshit in highschool)

Yes if you are not arbiter of wolf and know how to study and actually do your job.
>>
>>8003437
Needs more contrast, don't be afraid to make shadows darker and lights lighter. Add some barely visible color variation to your flats. Add some saturated color at the shadow border
>>
>>8003448
Thanks
>>
>Probably because the education system runs on one year

one year 8 hours 5 days of the week. Yeah i think it's fair enough to say that you can reach OP level if you do that.
>>
>>8003459
What school did you attend that had 8 hour days? thinking back its more like 3 days with 8 45 min periods aka 6 hours, one long day with 10 periods thats 7 and a half and friday 6 so 4 hours 30. unless you're counting breaktime and clubs?
>>
>>8003463
a normal one from the 90s? around 10 hours a day if you count club activity. No wonder you retards can't even read a fucking clock.

painted this real quick, I'm not good at rendering. I think you need to be more generous with the shadows placement, hair shadow on your new attempt looks quite good and has a nice shape but in other places it barely exists.
One more thing, I think it will be hard to draw appealing shadows/render well while your basics are not there yet. As you learn how to draw clothes/hair/body/face better, it will become easier to place your shadows as well because your overall understanding of 3d shapes will improve.
So don't forget you fundies and good luck, anon.

i would invert colors and adjust values bit
>>
>>8003492
*sorry do black and white and then think about colors... not invert that's something else.
>>
>>8002949
No.
It's AI traced.
Nominally you can see some progression in some areas and regression over a few months. First is anatomy. Then lineworks. Then coloring. Shading. Background. Clothing. Perspective. Gesture/actions.
Generally speaking just check the line quality against the expected skill level required to pull off similar anatomy + gesture. Those tends to climb up at similar rate
>>
>>8003505
You're retarded if you think that's traced. Looks pretty plausible as I see progress like this on YouTube all the time

>>
>>8003060
renderfagging is not easy either and that drawing is not even an example of it
no amount of renderfaggotry will give you that level of quality of drapery, hair or that staff, for example
>>
>>8003437
right does look better, the big issue is that your forms are poor, hands, neck, etc. i would move away from drawing humans and just focus on connecting 3d objects together. the one on the right does have some soul and charm thoughever.
