Which company do you think is the most important to artists and how do you feel about them? Are there any companies you go out of your way to buy products from or avoid? This also includes companies involved in digital art like Wacom or Adobe.

Lyra for me personally because I love their colored pencils but this is a broad question and it’s hard to say because it heavily depends on what medium the artist(s) uses

Are we talking about modern day or all time? I don't think I would have said a company, but a manufacturer. Specifically of pigments. So laboratories are the most important when it comes to an artist's life. If you want recs then I really like Fabriano and Bee paper company. Baohong makes excellent watercolor paper. For paint Sennelier and M Graham, And I prefer Faber-Castell over Prismacolor when it comes to pencils.

Wacom.

This thread could have some interesting shit flinging if wacom didn't exist
>>

You say that but I've looked at the tablet general for long enough to know that shit flinging is alive and well in the digital art space

I think the most important tool is gonna be a plain pencil regardless of brand. its extremely accessible and intuitive making it both the very first tool a lot of artists use and a useful tool for planning out pieces even if you graduate to a different medium and don't want the pencil showing up in the final piece.

Ask everything besides drawing and painting. It will surely help you. Beg crab.

No Staedtler in your OP pic? They make my favorite pencil
>>
>>8005552
How? Which? I avoid any Staedler product I can. Been liking Faber Castell and Art Creation
>>

nta but staedlers mars lumograph pencils are great
>>
In terms of manufacturers or distributors?

I love their 2mm "lead holder", the sharpener for it gets the lead super sharp
>>
I just get the cheapest no brand I could find

It's easy to determine which one of the drawing tablet manufacturers is the most important because they all make the same product. It also happens to be the most important product. And that's why the shit flinging isn't interesting.

nah people over in the tablet general fight constantly over what's the best brand or display vs screenless vs ipad/samsung tablets. for almost a decade one man has made it his mission to shitflinging over his glorious japanese plastic pens against the heathen chinese branded plastic (they are literally all made in taiwan or vietnam). The same damn argument every time? yes. Interesting in how some people can keep the violent fury and vitriol going for so long? I think so. At least traditional artists would give up after a few months rather than bitch about copics vs ohuhus for all of time

I'm sure you can understand this.
Even if wacoms were total garbage, the company would still be the most important in its sector.

Blick/Jerrys have the best prices in the us. Everybody else marks everything up further.
Speaking of art supplies, it enraged me that the government banned Paris green
