My art rival gave up and now I don't know what to do...

You win by default. Celebrate.
>>
>>8005682
You don't depend on your rival
>>

Go save Sasuke from the darkness, Naruto-kun.
>>
I want an art rival
how do you get an art rival?

Like this, I imagine.
>>

It doesn't happen because you want it to happen, it happens over something that would compel you to hate the other person for a long duration of time.
>>
Become your own rival
>>
I have a one sided rivalry with my favorite artist

I'll bite
Give me a rival
>>8005749
I'm not full of hate but of competition
>>
>>8005682
Did you ever tell him how you feel about him? I had a secret art rival once too, but my drive depleted after I realized he was just a loser outside of art. He was the reason why I started drawing aswell.

>had 3 main art rivals and a few smaller ones for around 5 years
>slowly surpassed them all
>decide to go all in on study
>now i keep on surpassing art rivals like its nothing
>my last art rival i only had for 3 weeks because i studied so fucking hard (7 hours minimum every day)
>still trying to find a new art rival even though ill probably surpass him within a few months or even weeks
having art rivals fueled me. now im running out of them. i think eventually ill have to use the old masters as art rivals and never surpass them because i dont think ill ever be as good as them.

These are the same file name which makes me think you're the same guy

If you are let's be rivals
I could use a guy like you though I'm not sure what you'll get from me
I draw every day but I wage slave so 7+ hours a day are only possible on off days
>>
>>8005811
>>8005796 is me, I was joking. Squidward is another anon. Either way, the rival thing is silly. Having a few big artists who are WAAAAY ahead of you as inspiration is far better hate fuel for improvement.
>>
>>8005828
Only if you're a soulless Materialist or worse still clout chaser
>>
>>8005828
I like the idea of a rival you're in contact with more than just looking at some artist and trying to get there
Like if you're an amateur boxer, if you have a buddy that did 20 more pushups than you every time vs seeing the top boxer in the place do 1000 easy
There's much more drive for improvement with the former
At least for me
>>
>>8005682
Cool bird. Would fuck.
>>
>>8005830
Nah. Maybe I lack good social conditioning, but if I don't improve on my own, there is no point to improve. What I called a rival is actually just a target. And what you guys are calling a rival ends up being a buddy. Unless theirs a measurable reward for being the better of the 2, there is no rivalry, and if you tell me "improving is the reward" , just know I would rather be a clout chaser and monetise my efforts so I can do more of it without starving or having to work my shitty job full-time for the rest of my days.

>>8005833
Same thing. What you're describing isn't a rival, it's a buddy. Unless you're actively TRYING to break their will so they quit and you're victorious, you have a buddy, not a rival.

I don't get it, but nice picrel.
>>
>>8005682
You have one more excuse for giving up.
>>
>>8005682
Art rivalries are destined to end with one giving up because artists are egomaniacs who can't stand being connected with someone superior to them in the same creative field.
>>
I am gonna be honest, there wasn't a single artist I met whom I wouldn't have strangled
and not in the sense that I was jealous. I fucking hate artists so fucking much. they're e-whores all of them
to have art rivalry you need a degree of camaraderie but all I could ever feel for artists was pure hatred
>>
>>8010710
Sounds like you're the problem honestly. Hate to be rude about it, but that's the rule.
>>
>>8010710
I feel the same way.
>>
>>8005682
It looks cool
>>
>>8005682
Anyone want to skip the art rival part and become art lovers?

My art rivals all said i didn't draw, Then they mocked me in the process whenever i drew.
Drip called me retarded.,
They've all quit.
>>
>>8013898
This is your perfect victory. That's right, you win.
>>
>>8013910
I guess you could say that. but the thing that stings the most is that these people would never accept me because i was passionate about artwork.

I still feel like I'm at the same spot that i was before even though I'm actually earning something from my artwork, it still wouldn't win over these guys or beat them.

i guess the difference between me and them was that i was tracking my progress they weren't. They had nothing to strive for so they'll just mock others and then quit.

maybe it's their culture
>>
>>8013922
its part of the infection of the internet moar broadly, but yeah those types do exist and it's their choice, but its a sad one. For some people being an artist is more important than making and enjoying art.
