Is Loomis still considered the go-to for learning simplified anatomy? I really need to improve my ability to draw anatomy from imagination, but I'm not sure where to start nowadays. There are so many resources out there that I'm having a hard time figuring out which approach would be most useful. Are there any good 'in depth' video courses on this, so I can watch it while drawing?

get the 2 lezhin books by taco1704 (there is 2 books as of writing).read and study the first taco book while also using 'figure drawing: design and invention' by michael hampton alongside it. in other words open the corresponding pages to the respective muscle groups: shoulders, back, torso, legs, etc. copy the diagrams over and over, trying to memorize the shapes of the muscle groups and how they appear under the skin when extended and contracted. study landmarks on the surface. for instance, it is important to understand how the clavicles/scapula sort of hover over the back/front of the ribcage but never actually touch it; they only meet at the end of the clavicle. see where the shoulder muscles attach to the clavicle, etc...while you do this also study the book "high focus figure drawing" by james mcmullan for more 'meta' stuff IRT figure drawing headspace and approach/improvement.many people like the "force" drawing series. those are good, (but i never really got into them because i did not like the drawing style in the diagrams in the books, and there seems to be an overwhelming amount of material for a relatively small set of principles)I also recommend "theorem of pose" but i have no idea if there is an english translation yet. But there's apps where you can take a picture of a page and instantly translate it. use these books together with figure drawing tools such as rkgk.org, youtube (or in real life if you live in a city and can afford the fee).

I'd say, yeah. if you're intermediate and advanced I still would say the taco books are a worthy investment for quick reference, like something to flip thru and pick up for a few seconds since it is very concise and self-explanatory since there is less description, but tenten book looks more in depth and more focused on broader stylization whereas taco is more for strictly anime-style only
