Is the strategy to make NSFW/ fetish visual novels/ games?I've seen a bunch make a whole heapa money, and the updates tend to be slow, with a surprising lack of sprites. I figure I can write some story, or get somebody else to write for me, while I just draw probabably less than 100 sprites, with most just being variations.
>>80112661. You kinda miss the heyday.2. Patreon numbers can be faked. Think viewbotting.3. I suspect a good amount are money laundering for organized crime. Especially the ones from russia and its neighboring countries. Usually people use rpgmaker or renpy. Some people obviously wants to do "real" gamedev, and implements many things by scratch using unity. 2D generally does better, patreon number-wise. But people expect animation for the sex scenes these days. Not the easiest thing to do.Incest, especially mom-son, does the best. But it's against patreon rule. And the workarounds are technically also against patreon rule. And if you live in a shithole country, you need paypal to withdraw your patreon money. So expect sudden ban from both patreon and paypal.
>>8011298I used to think the laundering take was paranoia until I saw AI artists with 1000+ paid members. Aintnoway that shit is real.

The strategy is to make things that people want. It's that fucking simple.
>>8011330Name 1 thing you've made that people wanted. Just one.
>>8011325some gooners probably are, but they are a minoritygood estimate would be less than 1%the rest? definitely money laundering and this shit is exactly why the adult industry is considered high risk because there are so many ways to go unchecked that it's best to just not allow certain kind of businesses and its not like patreon gives a shit either since they get rich from it too
>>8011266It’s not a guaranteed instant success but if you can find a niche to cater to then it’s a good strategy yeah
People only see the patreon numbers and not the 18 hour work days that go into creating an this shit and managing your social media, when you work it out even the "successful" artists are timemogged by someone who just got hired at Wendy's
