Question: Does anybody here sell or plan to sell their comics? Are you interested in self-publishing or do you prefer going for a bigger company? Is there anything that would make you think an artist would be better off doing one vs. the other? What do you prefer and why?>>8011349Impossible question! It all depends on what mood I'm in. Right now, I'm reading Happy Shitty Life for the 20th time and also Golden Boy. GB's Kintaro is husband tier, but I'd be lying if I said this story wasn't Mr. Bones Wild Ride. Every chapter is like watching a train derail, fly off a cliff, tumble into a ravine, crash into a tree, start a fire, float down a river, fall off a waterfall, and then somehow manage to get back on the tracks and keep going. I cannot stop reading. I can't even recc this in good faith to anybody for any reason. Don't be fooled by OVA. It's like I'm trapped in the author's stream of consciousness with his spiraling psychoanalytic "we live in a society" ramblings permeating what should've been my funny, relaxing, leisurely comic. What's even more fucked up is that I love every page of it. Despite being made by a Japanese man in the 80s, it manages to speak to me on a level no other author could... That, and he keeps dangling Kintaro over my head like a piece of meat... please... just a nibble... It's all I ask!!! But alas... it's hopeless. My vision darkens as the Egawa quicksand swallows me whole... >>8011362>Way of the Househusbandgood taste

I'm back with another story. I have no idea if it's based on a true story or not but I hope it helps motivate some of you.The story of a successful assistant.Back when he was 17, our guy won a major award, dropped some one shots that got rave reviews, and looked like a total rising star on the fast track to making his own serialized manga. But right before he could launch his own series, his editor suggested a detour 'Hey, why don't you go intern as an assistant for this hot new manga artist (let's call him Kikuchi) while you flesh out your storyboards?'Kikuchi was a monster talent, art school background, incredible perspective skills, and his debut series sold almost 2 million copies in its first year alone. At first, our narrator thought of him as a rival, but also respected him deeply. He joined Kikuchi's studio as an assistant, and since he was genuinely talented and fast, Kikuchi treated him like royalty paying him 200,000 yen a month right out of the gate (way above standard assistant rates) and bumping it up to 400,000 yen by month two when he was just 18.(1/5)
>>8011399Life was rolling. Kikuchi's manga got greenlit for an anime adaptation, which made everyone happy especially Kikuchi, who low key loved anime way more than manga and started losing his mind with excitement.Of course, the anime adaptation turned their work schedule into an absolute meat grinder. Deadlines shrank from four days a week to two, forcing insane all nighters. Our guy's dream of working on his own manga got completely swallowed by the grind. Two years flew by, his annual income hit 10 million yen, and he was practically running the studio floor right under the chief assistant. When he finally tried to quit to pursue his own manga career, Kikuchi gave him a polite smile and dropped a trap 'Sure, you can leave as soon as you find someone of equal skill to replace you.'Problem was, Kikuchi's standards for assistants were insanely strict. Our guy tried vetting people month after month but nobody ever passed the master's brutal tests.(2/5)
>>8011400Years kept ticking by. By his late twenties, he wasn't just an assistant anymore. He was locked into a high end 5 year contract worth 200 million yen. He bought his dream Hummer, built a house, ate high end sushi without looking at the price, and bought luxury brand gifts for his wife whom he married after she got pregnant. From the outside, he was living the ultimate success story. He pulled in 30 million yen a year, had a family, and genuinely loved the creative collaboration of helping shape panel backgrounds with Kikuchi. But inside, He felt empty. He still hadn't let go of his childhood dream of being a manga artist. Every month, he would still awkwardly throw potential assistant candidates at Kikuchi, desperate for a way out, while knowing deep down that he was trapped in a golden cage built by the very man who gave him everything.(3/5)
>>8011401His mental weight got even worse after getting a late night phone call from a close friend whose second serialized manga got brutally axed in record time. That friend spent hours crying and venting over the phone, ranting bitterly about how the whole industry is just a rigged game of pure luck, how timing matters more than talent, and calling manga a dead, outdated medium of static black and white ink while the rest of the world moved on, and listening to all that venom slowly poisoned our narrator's own mindset. It filled him with paralyzing self doubt, making him question whether he actually had what it took to survive on his own or if he was just coasting off a genius, and whether his own stories would ever amount to anything or just end in miserable failure. That brought him face to face with the most agonizing paradox of his entire existence, which was the haunting realization that Kikuchi was simultaneously the greatest and worst thing to ever happen to him. Kikuchi gave him his career, his massive wealth, his family, and a creative workspace where his ideas were genuinely valued during panel planning, meaning he literally owed everything he had to this man. But at the exact same time, that very same man had quietly, methodically suffocated his lifelong dream of standing on his own two feet by building a golden prison so comfortable that he forgot how to escape.(4/5)
>>8011402The forum thread closes with a sobering reflection on ambition versus survival. He traded his raw creative independence for financial security, a luxury home, and a stable family life. While thousands of aspiring creators burn out, starve, or get chopped down by brutal serialization cuts, he secured a fortress of wealth financed entirely by the very dream that swallowed his own.Yet, that quiet resentment remains his private ghost. Every time he looks at his daughter, or handles a background panel for Kikuchi's mega hit, he remembers the fire he had at seventeen. He's playing the long game now, building an impenetrable safety net so that when the final curtain eventually falls on his master's series, he can finally step out of the shadow and draw his own masterpiece without risking everything to do it.(5/5)
>>8011404dunno man, he seems like a whiny bitch. oh boo hoo I didn't draw my manga but I have wealth, industry connections, a family, friends, fuck you, just go draw it then you baby bitch.

its crazy to think there is so much good manag out there from before I was even born. When I was a dumb kid just living day to day, generational peak was being made right behind me. how was I supposed to know? I only found out about manga in the early 2000s by sheer luck, I just happened to have a friend who showed me shonen jump, it was like a totally new universe. There's no way I can even get 1% of their skill since I'm multiple lifetimes behind.
What do you guys think I should work on here, and focus on to improve? Is the dialogue ok?>>8011372I'm hoping once I finish my first chapter, I'll be able to sell my comic, but I doubt its good enough, especially the start. At the least I've learnt alot
>>8011651>>8011349Can probably tell but Jojo (mainly SBR) I was unhealthily obsessed with and it got me into art
>>8011651>>8011654You need anatomy, lots of anatomy work. The style you have chosen demands it be on point
>>8011651you should fix>shame about, those other boy>I've probably killed most everybody here
>>8011462Definitely would, but being a good rendering might also bring its own set of challenges. The better the coloring or technique, the more work it will take to finish chapters. Webtoons have to be optimized because of the schedule, especially if you are a single artist rather than a studio.
>>8011724I will do some tests and see how long it takes me.I'm pretty positive, static characters should't be too much of a problem. Backgrounds and action could be. Doing smearings and speedlines with color is hard.
>>8011651I still think more solid blacks would make this look better, basically replacing nearly all the hatching. Though in color I think the pages do look better.
>>8011349My favorite manga are Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Gunnm, Monster, Please Save My Earth, Dr. Slump and Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind (honorable mention to Slam Dunk, Shaman King, Jojo and Rurouni Kenshin).Anime-wise I'm a big fan of Evangelion, Code Geass, Slayers, Kino No Tabi (2003) and Ojamajo Doremi.
I was searching for some better webtoons. Found this one, it has definitely a more interesting layout than average. Surely some creativity and understanding of composition involved. But it feels nothing like manga, the style is a little bit mangaish, but it has clearly the look and feel of a comic. The format feels still a little bit claustrophobic, at least when reading on a big monitor. But, visually i don't consider this one slope, like every other webtoon i saw before. If someone is interested, you can look the first chapter, i haven't read the text myself.https://comix.to/title/jlvrv-annarasumanaraYeah, maybe it has some potential after all.

Why are nice artistic backgrounds such a rear thing to see in manga?
>>8011441really need westeners to rape my ip with live-action adaptations and endless greed
>>8012066Manga isn't about art, it's about churning out content as fast as possible. The process through which mangaka achieve this is the most artistic thing about it.
>>8012092Yes, mangaka churn out content as fast possible. But the minimum quality standard for that content is art.
>>8012096I don't like your tone you AI-phobic freedomcel
>>8012092Ever watched urban sketcher doing what they do?It's very fast and efficient. I myself have pretty little experience, but people who know what they do, are fast. You go out, you sit there, you have a limited amount of time, to capture the thing in front of you.The thing assistants do with the fotos, is extremely tedious and takes forever in compression. I saw the pun-pun guy doing some shit with blender, photos and game engines and what not. He basicly gaslit himself into a souless office job.
>>8012107Yes, slapping a filter on photo and tracing some lines surely takes longer than a complete artistic rendition of said photo. Pun-pun guy did the photo tracing meta for years but transferred over to 3D to have a camera without restrictions. He built the world he wanted for his manga in 3D to not be restricted to real life locations and to give models to his assistants so they know what all angles of relevant props look like. Then he hopped on AI, lol
>>8012158>Then he hopped on AI, lolThat's a natural conclusion for photo tracers. The Japanese body is weak, as well as the mind. The see technology as their savior, the ultimate equalizer. But in the end you build a cage for your soul.

>>8012207>manual coloringAm I missing something based on terminology? Manual coloring? As opposed to...... not manually clicking and moving your mouse and stylus? Huh? >fill toolI have drawn for years now, and I have not once ever used the fill tool for anything except to quickly change the starting background of an art piece I'm making.
>>8012256I mean like coloring the whole thing by hand rather than what I usually do which is fill with a solid color then do basic shading and lighting with solid colors. Just now trying out coloring with the Gouache and Pastel tools since they're not too messy or too solid out of the ones I've tried. I used to color a lot with pencils and markers before going digital but then I stopped coloring altogether for years in favor of trying to get better at lineart instead. Most of the tutorials I'm seeing are about rendering which I should probably also try to learn, but I wanted to see how coloring by hand like using a marker/crayon/etc would go too.
>>8011707Is my anatomy really that bad? I've asked other artists and people about it and they say its fine. When I'm coloring though I can just add more black if I feel it looks better>>8012060Was that you last thread talking about the shonen with the fat lead? Honestly that'd make your work stand out more. Character shape diversity is actually kino when you make them all hot, as opposed to some liberal women making them all flat and ugly. As long as the cast is actually diverse, nobodies gonna think its fetish stuff other than chronically online people.Congrats on the job, is it fulltime? Unfortunate reality is not having a job, and having a job sucks, but if its part time, you'll get more time to draw. I'm personally thinking about getting a casual job, just cause my current full time job takes up so much time and energy.

Never noticed before, but since i do manga myself Hunter grew so much on me, in therms of art. Looks like fun to draw. Very artistic, very diverse, it can be rough and very simple at the same time. Realistic proportions, cartoons with a cirle for the head and teo points for eyes. It’s like One Piece but for artists.Covers are the most artistic illustrations in the industry. Different mediums, crazy psychedelic stuff. One of the best manga art ever. And at the same time for most it’s good story, bad art situation. Fucking grim.I guess those are the limits for thr shonen demographic, if it’s too artsy they hate it.

I'm generally not a fan of their style, but still. And webtoons are very popular. Not sure why those two worlds never collide.Maybe because modern artists are pure render monkey with zero original thoughts? I have read planty comics and manga of popular artists and it's garbage. Pro art combined with zero storytelling skills makes it even worse than most noob manga, cos it gives you the uncanny feeling.

>>8012581Nope, both are legit.>>8012582>do you just not know, or...?No, i'm not a fan or something. I saw the skeleton in his gallery, but never saw this comic.I will not read it. Too much text, bad font.Visually it's very meh. He does not hit the cartoonish notes with the expressions and gestures. It's cartoony but very stiff.Layout is awfull, espessially the first 5 or so pages it's literally talking heads. And then he thought, hmm thats boring, let's get funky and break the 180-rule for no reason at all.I feel his strugle, i had the same. I studied academic art for a while, after i had problem with expressions like him. But French Academic art is sovl and it emphasise storytelling a lot. Concept art is soulles garbage.I had to force myself, tobe more expressive, still strugelling, but at least the French Academic art got the idea in my head, that storytelling is king. I don't think he gets the idea. Juan Jia even less. It's all about pain and suffering. Most people do that once in their lifes. He suffered through rendering, achived a high level and now he is setteled. He thinks. But he would need to start from the beguinning, be very, very humble and learn cartoons properly.Non of them is ready to do so.It's always the same, saw a lot of people trying to switch from cg rendering to trad. Most if not all gave up after a while. Same with comics, or tattoos. That's basically the reason to never use """tools""" that make you faster and more officiant. They make your brain soft and later on you will not be able to draw cartoons.P.S. not sure what this random rant about cgfags supposed to mean, honestly...

Dingle-sensei, I don't know if you're here, but do you think H-magazine editors would bother checking a total newbie's draft that sent to their editorial department? I've seen a youtube video of someone who tried this, and he said that he got an immediate feedback from an editor (although his work was rejected). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ch5L9M6QOYI wonder if I follow the advice that he got from that editor, I'd get a slight chance of getting feedback from them.
>>8012587I think you're on to something with people not wanting to suffer twice. People with no ability to storytell or be funny or interesting, will go to renderfagging as a guaranteed and stable path to attention. It works but then they see people making just as many views and dollars with cute doodles and think "wtf are they doing that's better than me" so they try making comics. Refusing to accept that they are starting from zero and have to learn how to draw in a complete different way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8zTDvqHH6k
>>8012748
>>8012727Just go draw. You know nothing about any of these people and you aren't interested in learning. Who is making big bucks with "cute doodles", the new gen ic idol khyleri or some early internet westoid? Not that it even matters but why do you want everything to be easy. Difficult things are cool, design is cool, cute things are cool in their own way. Simply fuck off and a reminder that rendering simply means to describe a form with value instead of line and it's not some arcane science. Designers just happen to be good at it because they have to convey fully realized ideas instead of funny doodles.
>>8012627>>8012636>>8012587So the people that are better than us...are worse than us.
>>8012635Nta but same here even though I'm on digital
>>8012746Very nice, i'm all in on brown anime girls. On my monitor the skin is slightly greyish.I personally like when it's slightly more saturated like i posted here >>8012058>>8012807Bro, what?
>>8012746Are they Egyptian?I'm still working on the design of my mesopotamian elven girl, i'm very close to finish it.
>>8012551Steve Lichman is the funniest shit I have ever read in my LIFE, you will bow before the king bitch.
>>8012818Must be an American thing, or something. You know i prefer real culture, and not burger-slop.I haven't read it though, i was judging the visuals.
>>8012814One on the left is not!Indian and the one on the right is a mix of not!Mesoamerican combined with not!Mongolian. I swear it maoes more sense in the comic lol.
>>8012026>He just draws things where they're going to appear on the page instead of having to draw off of tangent linesPeople can do this?
>>8012833lol bro's never heard of a hertz donut
>>8012993Uh yeah
>>8012993Thanks for replying to my post, I appreciate it
how am I doing without references???
>>8012998>>8013013I'm just impressed. I always have to kind of spider web my art, working outwards from the center.
>>8012833>"i prefer real culture" >the real culture:>thing: japan
>>8013015dunno, but it’s cute
>>8013015Grind fundies and use more refs
Where do you guys find onomatopoeia/sound FX for manga/comics? English ones, cause I still need two decades before I do anything in Japanese.
>>8013126I think I have a few from the CSP asset storeI recently learned how quick access works and now I have the materials window keybinded to 3 key
>>8013126I make themWhat the hell -won't- you people just paste into ""your"" manga
>>8013132>>8013144I did not mean actual art assets to copy-paste or anything like that. I meant more like a dictionary of textual effects. There are special sounds such as "whoosh" or "KABOOM", and also things like "step, step, step" when walking and such. I wanted a more exhaustive list.Recently I have been noticing them in mangas/webtoons that I read and storing them for later. But I wanted to know if there are other sources I could reference.
>>8013132>Ahh looks like AssFUCK it is actually the meme
>>8013152You can just make up sounds. My advice would be not to use the actual spelling of words for sounds that sound like that word, unless you are specifically using a word on purpose in place of a sound.
>>8013152I don't know about a dictionary but I have this collage I made a while back
What do you think of "sounds" that are not sound but descriptions.Boom, agh, blam... i find okey, sometimes people use too much of them in non action scenes. For myself i try to use as view as possible. It's an ego thing, i try to make the art clear enough. But words that describe emotions, like "Surprised" written over the head, or "goes slowly" i don't like at all. You should describe a surprised character by drawing them surprised.Maybe it works different in Japanese.I refuse to use such word-effects. Maybe i shouldn't.
>>8013182Depends on the context, but yes the text for clearly displayed emotions is completely unnecessary. I'm sure there's a legitimate use case for it in some instances but not to the degree that it's gotten used, I guess it's just a japanese thing like their "stare..." gag.
>>8013126I draw them and come up with my own ideas of how they should look. Their shape, value, and composition comes first to compliment the art because words and letters are also art. It doesn't matter what the word even says most of the time, so long as they fit and you can imagine that sound in your head.
>>8013182I like it because, depending on the context, it helps to draw more attention or enhance it, especially for comedic effect.Things like "goes slowly" or "falls" are really nice to help with ambiguous scenes or when it is difficult to express visually.I can see bad usage of them, but I have no problem in general. If you trust that you don't need any of them in your own work, that is also fine.
Guys, I think I might have just come up with a billion dollar idea. I never thought I'd have this brain blast moment as a creator, I was just scrolling through random shit on twitter and suddenly a title name sparked in my head and all the ideas flowed into me like a river. I think it's fate. But I won't tell you what it's all about because I don't trust any of you to do this idea justice. It's so good I can already see it being a big hit before I've even started. I'm gonna make it.
>>8013215Hate to break it to you but someone already made a manga where they turn into the pokemon like power ranger suits
>>8012428is my stuff that obvious?
>>8013226yeah your styles pretty distinct
>>8013226I am trying to imagine them saying everything in an Aussie accent.
peepee poopoo and a little bit of mucus
>>8012708I mean it's not a guarantee, but editors are generally looking for newbies. You lose nothing by sending something in regardless.Course it depends on what you mean by "total newbie". They're not teachers. If you send them something that's nowhere near publishable all you're likely to get is a "please practice and improve and then come back to us" or something along those lines, if you hear back at all.
>>8013132Not him but can you give a link? Also I've been looking for brush that gives that "Wham" sfx sound effect. Is there any brush that looks like that?
Started inking on deletter paper, very nice so far.But its between a4 and a3 in size, but all i have is a cheap a4 scanner, that im not even sure still works. What do, should i use a diy dslr rig or what? I have some nice portrait glass.

How do i write hunter style 200iq fights, if im stupid?
>>8013494Play a video game then just draw an action scene based on what you were doing
>>8013500I usually play Solitaire
>>8013505Just play solitaire in a shady den and get into debt
>>8013510>get into debtSo i owe myself money then?
>>8013514You own a shady solitaire den?
>>8013515Are you trying some mind game son me dude?
How is your serialization progressing, Alice-anon?
>>8013494If you have to ask this question then you're already disqualified.
>>8013593I don't get it
>>8013494I don't know what hunter style fights are but if you mean how to write interesting fights, I think the key concept is that you need to make it suspenseful, make it a mystery whether the protagonist will actually win or not.If the reader knows that the protagonist is going to win the fight completely, there's no interest, you're just waiting for the bad guy to be dealt with. One way to fix this is, if possible, have a main character die earlier in the series in such a fight. This sets the stage that your main characters are not safe. Also in a fight with your main character who absolutely cannot die, pit them against an opponent who's vastly more powerful, so the reader has no idea how they're going to beat them. This can be dynamic also, the bad guy may first appear to be powerful but then have your main character get the upper hand, but then for the bad guy to reveal another trick up their sleeve, etc.As for the fight itself, it's not just two dudes exchanging blows. Plan it out like a whole rube goldberg machine, or like a chess match. Put problems and mysteries for the protagonist to solve, twists to surprise the reader and counteract their expectations. Remove any things that could serve as predictable elements such as the protagonist always winning, or the fight always ending in total defeat of one party. It's all about avoiding predictability. The fight itself should always be flashy, but if you already know how it's going to end, it's no good.
>>8013603ContAnother important element to interesting fights is relevance. What does the fight mean for the characters, both protagonist and antagonist. This is why most tournament arcs are boring, because you don't know any of the characters fighting, their choice of opponent is a dice roll, and who they're fighting is just a stepping stone to who they actually want to fight.A more interesting beat in a tournament arc would be to have one of the characters break the rules and attack the person they want to fight anyway, not only is that a twist, but it's interesting because the characters have an emotional reason to fight. The fight becomes more than just a fight, but a proving ground for whatever belief they hold. If the protagonist holds some philosophy, and the antagonist holds the opposing philosophy, through their fight they argue with eachother, and their energy to fight is directly tied to how strong their argument is going. If they can't counter what their opponent has said, they suddenly also find themselves unable to counter their opponents blows. I mean this in a writing sense, not a literal sense, it's just theming.A common fight that goes like this is where the main character opposes the bad guy, but he doesn't even understand the first thing about the bad guy, his philosophy is naive, and then the bad guy whoops him and tells him that he is naive and too weak.Or often, the bad guy finally realises the error of his way and loses the will to fight. His argument is defeated and so is he.Besides that there's also just general emotional relevance. Two characters who really hate eachother and have been wanting to trade blows for a long time finally get their chance. Or a betrayal, where one character doesn't want to fight who they think is their friend and has not fully accepted that they're evil now. Make emotions the obstacles in a fight. If both were just stone cold killers it'd be easy for them to fight. Make them emotional.
>>8013612>This is why most tournament arcs are boringHold on now. All of my favorite tournament arcs don't do any of the things you recommend. They might have their own twists, but generally speaking, they stick to the tournament formula. What makes a compelling tournament arc is the introduction of a bunch of new guys, and giving the characters (new and old) a chance to show their mettle. Take a look at Baki's Maximum Tournament: it's got small twists and turns, but for the most part the fun of it is seeing the fights play out and discovering who the real badasses are. And shit like seeing Hanayama basically punch a dude in half. Now that said, the climactic fight IS thematically relevant and it does tie together a strange kind of theme, but it's a last-minute thing.
>>8013603That's actually a good advice, i think to not make it predictable, you have to keep the power levels low, otherwise you will always have to create the superman-cryptonit situation. Many people hate weak mc's, but it's more sustainable i guess. In my "main manga" the manga i plan to do, after having much more experience with my side mangas i plan to kill a mc pretty early. But it's really a can of worms, makes everything that follows way harder to write. Thats one of the reasons, i need more experience for that project.I read Naruto many years ago and there was the fat guy, forgot the name, he did a suicide bomb attack and survived with no permanent damage. I hated it so fucking much. Something similar happened later on with Sazuke. Or with the bird guy in One Piece in alabasta. And those characters weren't even important, they got side tracked later on anyway.Since then i wanted to a main character do a suicide attack, to save the others and actually die.
>>8012551I looked at these comics more than I bothered with the comics posted in this gerenal just because the art compelled me to. Dave's comic as actually a competent one shot that didn't over stay its welcome. Didn't like the second one and the font switching between bubbles was obnoxious. Both are still better than anything this thread can produce on ant giving day.
>>8013226I guess we know each other styles since we have been posting here for so long.
>>8013728there are plenty of good mangas here
>>8013612>you don't know any of the characters fighting, their choice of opponent is a dice roll, and who they're fighting is just a stepping stone to who they actually want to fight.Soul Society arc (basically a tournament with a ticking clock and permanent consequences) sidestepped this issue by having them run into a new character then doing a whole episode of that character's backstory before they start fighting next episode lol
>>8013622Yeah if you have to rely too much on elements of the story that are not the fight itself to make the fight interesting, that's no better than a slowburn drama that decides to turn into an action movie at the end to make its finale interesting.>>8013623See Outlaw Star for how to do a decent early Aerith.
>>8011349Manga: Excel SagaAnime: Kidou Senkan NadesicoHonorable mention to Hyper Police for both as it was the first thing I saw that got me interested in animu and mangoes.
>>8011349>MangaYu Yu Hakusho>AnimeBeastarsI also have a JoJo softspot, but I wouldn't call myself an active fan.
>>8013850>See Outlaw StarIt's based on manga, will look into it.
Does it make sense to keep your good ideas for later? Or should you go with the best idea you have right now?
>>8011349Chainsaw man! Its what inspired me to start making manga in the first place, a study i did included
>>8013932Mb for got to add file lol
What do you guys think of this advice?
>>8013908I'm recommending it solely because it pulls off an early party member death well while having made that character's actions impactful even after death, and also because it's just a good series. Never read the manga, when I looked it up it had like 2 chapters translated.
>>8013961Guess it depends. Lower looks like he moved it straight back (small speed lines on the sword should be curved or angled to show he swung in an arc) and upper displays the way he actually moved the sword, so I have to assume this was made by a talented midwit who wants to feel like they're doing an epic clapback against an art technique they disagree with.
>>8013911What do you actually mean by "good ideas?" If you don't have the proper contextual build up then don't shove your kino mirror match with the rival at the front of the story, but also don't neuter the story and make it boring on purpose to build up to the eventual planned good part. Make every part of your stoey fun and engaging as best you can, even in lowkey moments.
>>8013911It depends. CAN you keep your good ideas bottled up? Can you stand to draw anything other than your main passion project? Do you want to draw anything else? How long can you put off what you really want draw?
Reminder that you should be a best ideas machine, if you only had a few that were decent then that's all you were ever worth as a storyteller.
>>8013236>>8013250>>8013733bit of a shame, I was enjoying not being tied to knight/chef comic, even for a little while.
>>8014019>number eight>number twenty-onehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prisoner
>>8013961it's a choice. neither one is better than the other.
>>8013961Matter of preference and circumstance but frankly top reads more clearly at a glance.
Writer anons, do you come up with the ending from the start or just go with the flow?
>>8014085All my ideas start with a 5 second cool moment that appears in my head when listening to music. And then I just extrapolate outwards in both directions to the first and finish until it's done.
>>8014085I've never worked on anything that I didn't have an ending in mind for.
>>8014087Holy based
>>8014087Hell yeah my brother. Come up with cool moments, think it'd be awesome, then work backwards to find out how to justify them being strung together. Besides if your characters are well written enough you already know how they're going to react to any given situation.
>>8014085>Writer anonsGenerally no such thing itt, anons usually do both the writing and the drawing.
