believing that you can't ever sucessfully draw anime if you're not japanese is just too depressing to accept but when I look at eol "manga" and artists online that are clearly trying it feels like more often than not it just feels like a store-brand rip-off. I hope its just survivorship bias and i never see real looking anime/manga from a westerner because they are just able to hide that they are westerners
>>
Visual perception and fine-motor skills are highly polygenic, so to the extent that races differ in these capacities, however subtly, the drawing styles that feel natural to them will also differ. Instead of trying to adopt a different race's style, I suggest looking at the styles that come naturally to your own race.

I didn't know Radiant was from a French. Honestly, it is pretty good and very Japanese-encoded art, not sure what those anons are complaining about.

There is nothing genetic. If you want to draw in Japanese style, you just copy and study manga/anime, simple as that.

>Whole argument is based on a straw man
That sums up most people here. There's no evidence backing up anything here, it's literally just a statement made by a nobody, whom we cannot cite. This is completely useless as a position in any discourse regarding eastern- or western media. Being unable to not recognize differences is low pattern seeking behaviour, not "low cognitive resolution", whatever the fuck that means in regards to art. It's a term shat out by a midwit, and anyone using this blob of text as a baseline are not someone worth spending time on. Low cognitive resolution is, at best, meant to simplify the ability to juggle multiple viewpoints and ideological perspectives, not fucking anime. Get a grip, and go outside and touch grass.

Even when it's shit art, as long as a Japanese person drew it, it should still qualify as a manga in most peoples eyes. If it's based on the country of origin, then that's the argument. Otherwise, you're talking out of your ass.

i find that many can't fight their western influences they grew up with. they think to cartoons and comics, as well as the online content like the poorly done westerner anime art of places like deviantart or those shitty how to draw manga books that they consumed in their formative years and enjoyed and it became a core part of their visual library. and it shows in their work.
some people's style will never get beyond anime-inspired because of this influence they can't or won't objectively look at and excise from their work.

maybe its the hyper individualism. I keep hearing shit online about "find YOUR artstyle" distinguish yourself like that, make your work more unique with this etc. If you desperately try to make your work original of course you won't be able to actually fit into a category defined mainly by a collectivist culture

I personally blame how American pop art culture not only has a weird taboo on copying art as a learning tool (which means begs get stuck in the mines a lot longer than their foreign counterparts), but tends to shame narrowing down your art inspirations in order to develop faster.

Every time you see "develop your style!" videos or advice from other artists, their help always boils down to "take general inspiration from a LOT of very different artists all at once" or "take individual stylized facial features/body parts/clothing styles from various artists all at once".

You can also look at how capeshit comic artists are encouraged to have more individual styles rather than abide by an in-house style where everyone stays on model (like how they used to) because there's more money to be found in selling art pieces so you'd naturally want your art to look nothing like your competition's.

Meanwhile whenever you look at mangaka or Euro/Latin American comic artists, it's always "oh I just copied a few of my favorite manga/comic artists and drew from life". Americans make things so much harder for themselves.

So, what are you trying to say? Is homogenized art styles preferable to distinct ones? Define European art styles, please. This reads as if the whole world functions like americans think it does, as if asia and europe each are cohesive units of a same species. This is the absolute most midwit take I've ever read, you really think you've figured out how the art styles and cultural heritage works, huh?
>>
>>8012286
I mean if you are trying to fit into a box, in this case anime, it helps to be homogenized
>>
>>8012639
You know what? I guess that's a fair enough assessment. There are plenty of Mignola knock-offs to create a whole genre category in itself, just based on the art style alone.
>>
>>8013504
kinda reminds me of how isekai became a genre because of all the copycat cash grabs. is that how all genres happen? hope not but i could see it

learning to draw anime/manga art is the easy part, convincing /icfags obsessed with the japanese is infinitely more difficult
>jjk are is low int, but its REAL manga bro! because its japanese man!
obviously something to be said for style itself and not proficiency in it, but had jjk or scores of other popular manga been american made, theyd be ridiculed lol.
something like chainsaw man barely resembles classic manga, yet its a best seller.
the only thing determining whether you can draw anime/ manga or not is whether or not youre willing to vpn larp a japanese twitter account
>>
>>8013637
time to keep grinding kanji i guess
>>
why do retards think this is some genetics thing when its obviously just people being influenced by the environment they grew up in and stay in? no shit if all you see is japanese art and every tutorial you look up is in japanese your art will look much more like stereotypical japanese art than someone across the art whose source of anime is "how to draw anime" videos by people who aren't even japanese
