What does /ic/ think of the artist H. R. Giger?
>>
he dead
>>
>>8013029
Too much airbrush. Not enough Loomis. Too edgy.
Still genius tho. He probably was the best airbrush artist.
>>
Nihei mogs.

legendary.

a big nazi faggot
>>
I love him and he's one of my main inspirations even though it doesn't show in my newer drawings anymore

Sorry to do you H.R., but to be fair, you already kinda looked like the sinful dwarf

OK faggot.

i relate to this
>>
He painted too much random gibberish.
>>
>>8013029
He's good, but the bandwagoners are rather tired.

A hack. Also he was homosexual.

here is another enigma for you.
>>
>>8016825
>>8016830
unironically, I really do wish I could have asked him "what message did you try to send? what was the thought process behind that?" when seeing these type of pieces he did.
>>
>>8016831
You already know. A degenerate psycho perverting the masses through deceiving devices. Just like those million dollar pedo paintings sold at sotheby's to the rich and famous, so they can perform the ritual exposure of that to their global audience. The mocking ritualistic perversion is part of the ruling class culture and tradition.
>>
>>8013099
Checked and concurring.
>>
>>8016836
better than what poor people do on a day to day basis. loathsome envious scum. no your life wouldnt be better if you had money, you would waste it like fucking retard you are now. its your fault youre poor
>>
>>8016836 >>8016843
LMAO! I guess you're both right, actually.
>>
He's a subversive who further degrades European artistic tradition just like all artists pushed by (((them)))
>>
>>8016831
>what message did you try to send? what was the thought process behind that?
Surrealism isn't really about sending a message. It's more about expressing a feeling.

Giger was very anti-natalist tho so a lot of his paintings are about overpopulation in some sense
>>
>>8016923
(((they))) forced you to become a porn addict and cuckold, go watch your porn and hate yourself.

>>8016987
>>8016987
>Giger was very anti-natalist
he was smart.

>>8016825
>what he meant with this one
that's what your parents did. you stupid ape. it's so simple and common. meaningless act.
>>
>>8017451
>he was smart.
He probably never had a cute girl in his life because he was a shut-in manlet. That's why he started to hate humanity because he had noone who cared about him.
>>
Giger was surprisingly midwit but he was creative. Also not a homosexual because he was doing nothing but picking up girls in his teenage years. And then came the drugs and the film deals.
>>
I 100% like the things based on his concepts, better than his art itself.
>>
>>8016831
My interpretation is that he wanted to represent a contrast between a crude, visceral, easy to domesticate humanity against some sort of divine primordial, technologically advanced entities that oddly resemble humanity. Maybe both sides of humanity, one simplistic and the other powerful and threatening.
>>
>>8013029
my whole life I have never seen a photo of him, this completely ruins his aura
>>
>>8013029
the sexual imagery is kind of boring but I like the mechanical blend stuff
>>
>>8020739
That's childish.
>>
>>8016831
I was always under the impression he was worried about technology, and used sex as a metaphor for humanity and the natural, and how it (nature) is being over taken and usurped by technology.
So >>8016830 could have been a painting of a tree made of metal and wires, but is instead a giant metallic arse getting dicked.

I think he was also often trying to make people uncomfortable -- horror and sex really are a killer combo that accentuate each other quite well.
It's probably why he was the artist hired to design the penis alien that face rapes you and impregnates you (men included).

>>8016987
>a lot of his paintings are about overpopulation in some sense
I never got that impression from him. There's a terrible feeling of isolation coming from them that runs counter to the over population reading, and it comes from all the work of his that I can think of.
Not to say you're wrong in that reading, of course, it's just that it seems amusingly polar opposite to what I (and assumedly many others) read into his work.

BROOOO
>>
>>8020739
what the fuck are you talking about?

if anything its beatiful that he looks exactly like the kind of guy whod make art like that
>>
>>8016831
he came to me in a dream and told me to reply with
>"lol, lmao even".
>>
>>8020773
you say that as a joke, but some of it literally his own nightmares/dreams.
"Giger: If I have a problem in my life, it’s that my dreams aren’t very good. The stress destroys my dreams. It brings back memories of military service and school. If I have the same disagreeable dream repeatedly, I’ll paint it to liberate myself from it."
>>
>>8020739
You're seeing him when he's a saggy old man. It's like seeing a punk rocker for the first time when they're old -- you're missing them in the original context of their creations, when they were in their prime.
Some artists remain cool, and youthful, throughout their entire life (Like Lou Reed, maybe?), but most do not, they become flabby and out of touch, and their art seems like their just treading the same well worn grounds rather than doing anything they're truly passionate about.
>>
>>8017507
Enlightenment comes from solitude and hermitage.
>>
>>8021798
If that was true then I would be the new Dalai Lama.
Enlightenment just comes from not having shit genes.
>>
>>8017507
If women werent such fucking hypergamous foids, we would have missed out on a lot of accomplished men most likely.
They probably would have never developed their inherent talents, if they didnt feel the need to compensate for their lack of pussy and the world having treated them badly until they made it to fame.
>>
>>8021852
Loneliness and isolation makes people depressed and lazy, not productive.
Your logic makes no sense.

There are just men who simply have no sex drive. They are natural born nerds and can work well without sex.
>>
>>8017507
>He probably never had a cute girl in his life because he was a shut-in manlet.
No, you should read up on him. He was a ladies' man in highschool. He and his friends even built an entire ghost house ride just to grope and fuck girls in a dark corner of it.

Based
>>
>>8022117
At that time he also fetishized guns and owned at least one real gun. He probably had a strong connection of sex, death, and machines at that point already. Still in school he started drawing for all sorts of things (school magazines, posters for events) and it kicked off from there. He was neither shut in nor chud. He was perverted from a young age and it was our gain.
>>
>>8016836
>>8016923

The chud trad larp is so exhausting. HR fucking Giger gets the same canned rant as corporate memphis fag parade posters.
>>
>>8013029
No wonder he thought sex was evil, look at that ugly son of a bitch
>>
>>8022619
If only the ugly bastard genre existed during his time, he might have had some confidence and hope.
>>
>>8021854
>Loneliness and isolation makes people depressed and lazy, not productive.
Maybe depressed, but plenty of lonely people are hyper productive. And plenty if social people are lazy.

It's pretty confident to say
>your logic makes no sense
when it's more about different assumptions
>>
>>8016831
>what message did you try to send?
The same one I want to send when I post big tiddy girl in /beg/:
I wanted to draw what I love

He really does look like the guy who could puck up girls in his school days, while you wonder why girls live this goofy face.

Female taste is fundamentally alien. Cumberbatch eyc. Who can make sense of this.

He wasn't bad looking at all. The bloated face came later from working too much and inhaling too many drugs and aerosols.
>>

>>8022807
And I'm not kidding with inhaling aerosols. The guy didn't wear a mask while spraying.
>>
>>8022813
Not only the aerosols, but the crew that worked on Alien said Giger's work area when he worked on the xenomorph suit and other things in the movie smelled horrible, like complete shit
>>

>>
>>8022751
>Maybe depressed, but plenty of lonely people are hyper productive
That would be a rare kind of breed then. The regular reaction to depression is lazyness. When you have no motivation and perspective then you also see no sense in working.
>>
>>8022830
That's because he used real bones for the Alien suit, both human and animal, it was the smell of rotting flesh from both.
>>
>>8023256
Also, lots of unsafe paint and plastic/rubber materials as well.
>>
>>8023014
Why ignore the solitary factor? Not all no social people are depressed, not all depressions are crippling.
I am actually convinced that all great men and all hyper productive men started out with some sort of desperate suffering and isolation.
Surely a clinical long-term depression combined with a passive personality leads to a form of permanent inaction out of which it's hard to break out of.
But social isolation is no factor

well, he was using acrylic paint and when you spray you use like two drops of paint at the time. I love Hans Rudolf, this one is hanging in my bedroom, Debbie Harry - Kookoo 80x80 cm
>>
>>8023684
>Not all no social people are depressed, not all depressions are crippling.
Obviously there are exceptions for everything. They are still exceptions tho.
>>
>>8023960
Two drops of paint directly into your lungs is bad though
>>
a bunch of lazy copy and paste. basic shit.
>>
>>8024167
>copy and paste
it's not digital
>>
I prefer Vorticism, Giger's industrial nightmares seem too much like wallpaper. Admittedly I like Aliens better than Alien too
>>
>>8016825
>only one of them is wearing a condom
But really, what did he mean by this?
>>
>>8029862
Natural selection
>>
below European standard but suitable for the states.
>>
>>8030095
Philosopher rants about a system that only exists in his mind (or who mingles in a bubble). Meanwhile we live in an age of prudery.
>>
>>8030192
What's true is that we live in a time of extreme contrasts, and that Giger's 'moment' peaked fifty years ago.
>>
>>
>>8022116
>He and his friends even built an entire ghost house ride just to grope and fuck girls in a dark corner of it.
I fucking kneel what a king
