genuinely what do you gain from picking such ugly references

It's the absolute peak of feminine beauty.

nta but the picture is overexposed and blurry. use better references

So does your face, pal.
>>
>>8014800
Sometimes the ugly ones reveal a lot of structure that’s otherwise more obscure. Look at that massive neanderthal forehead and those weird, high cheekbones. Her nose is also quite distinctive in its shape. As an artist you should be all over that stuff
>>
>>8014783
looks really good so far!

Complain all you want, still better than most "draw this in your own style" threads we had
>>
>>8014783
>>8014782

And where's the drawing? You surely didn't waste an entire day only to not finish drawing one of the ugliest women i've ever seen from a reference right?

You are using a reference so where's the drawing? Cheating and still no output?

Took a really quick stab at it, would like to give it 30 more minutes later. Or draw it again. Thanks for the ref, anon.
>>8015228
You really softened her features lol. She looks much more overall appealing I guess, but rather generic.
Want me to post some other refs? I have a fair few saved of women with strong facial features.
>>8015318
Take your time anon. You may want to do a few value thumbnails and the like, to work quicker and get more practice in. Though it seems you're doing detailed rendering practice, right? Looks good. Think it'd be good if you also had the top of the shoulder. The black top games the face nicely.

Damn, makes me wanna try it. Androgynous people are extremely hard to keep androgynous and leaning towards their actual sex. Many of the paintings in this thread look like trannies or dudes, when the ref is clearly a female with a pronounced bone structure. I feel like if I attempt it I'll fuck it up, but it's worth giving a try

Yes, I think the challenge comes from the subject's unusually sharp featured combined with the extreme camera angle. But that's why I picked this particular image, it forces you to really consider facial structure.

On the other hand the color and values are interesting but not too complicated. The fluorescent lighting means that the surfaces facing away from the viewer are very desaturated, and by far the most saturated areas are the crevices. I recommend to anyone drawing a full color version to take note of the faint blue glint at the edges of the hair, which I think looks interesting.

Pic related is another good reference for if you want to practice color in hard mode. I found it to be much more complicated than it looks.

inspiring work anon, good job! a small criticism if I may, the section between nose shadow and upper lip looks a bit odd, has this joaquin phoenix feeling, is it maybe too saturated? cant really say hope it helps

>>
>>8019882
>perhaps you're overthinking certain details around the face

Nah. I made it up because the original is overexposed like someone on here stated, and i want to practice skin coloring

I'm not going for accuracy. A lot of model photography is overexposed because they want to hide imperfections.

Imperfections is key in artistic expression
>>

I do need an easier way to color tho
