Any FudeCHADS here? I've been doing mostly portraits with Fudepen and I like it very much.PROS:>Fine line with only the tip>Bold line squashing the tip>Expressive lines>Can make textures when the tip is almost out of ink>Can make big blobs of ink and cover large spaces>Paired with a gray marker or gray Fudepen allows to render volumes and improve the quality of the drawingCONS:>Very difficult to control the ink flow initially>Smudging is difficult to control>Pricey ($10 unit and $3 refill)>Steep learning curve>An error means the ink stays in the paper forever (tippex or scratching are not very good solutions)The trick to learn the Fudepen is to never being afraid of fucking up a drawing as it will let you end up with a looser result and without a stiff inking.Picrel is a selfportrait
>>8017832You can see the blocking of the black parts done first, then the light rendering with a simple gray marker. Picrel is combination of fudepen and markers to put some color.
Here you can see the different textures you can get with the tip almost dry and by squashing the tip
>>8017819can't find fude pen that doesn't have flow problems, both I tried (black pentel and pentel with container) start leaking ink like crazy after few minutes of drawing. Ordered another pentel and kuretake no 8, hoping either of them would work
>>8017852i think you should use a diferent brand. i use the pocket brush pen from pentel and it is one of my best natural brush hair tools.
>>8017856i mean just brush pens. the hair is like synthetic e_e
Great for fills, shit for everything else
>>8017819is a "fudepen" literally just a marker or am I missing something?
>>8017903I think it is brush pens.
>>8017916That is what OP is referring to, but fude pen can also refer to a type of fountain pen with a heavily angled nib.>>8017852Pentel makes a soft bodied line - the regular one is just "Pentel Fude Brush Pen" on amazon, but the color version is called a color brush. You can give them a little squeeze to get some more ink flow, or you could grab any waterbrush and fill it with ink for the same effect.>>8017856The pocket brush has synthetic bristles my dude.
>>8017852>can't find fude pen that doesn't have flow problemsIt's a feature, not a bug. If you press the cartridge, ink will flow out to the tip and it will get charged. That is what you want to do when filling big surfaces. If you don't want that much ink you have to press but lightly so that the tip doesn't get flooded. >>8017902>Great for fills, shit for everything elseI respect it but it is very fun to me drawing with this. It allows me to do big portraits with little to no time and it is ideal to draw people in real life>>8017863Sometimes the tip gets split and then it is difficult to correct it. Picrel can be seen the black one with split tip.>>8017903Fudepen is what it is in the pic. All the pens combined cost around $110. I want to get each one.
>>8017931OP here, this is not what I use to draw, it could never allow me to make those brushstrokes, what I call a Fudepen is what it is in >>8017938Shadows of picrel are made by putting a bit of ink in my finger and smudging around the paper in the places I want the shadows.
I have a kuretake no13 and its been great to work with. For those who want a refillable brush pen that use fountain pen cartridge or with a converter you can use any regular fountain pen ink. The major downside to it is the ink flow, you can't draw fast with it or it will skip lines. >>8017941you should try a water brush pen with your brush pen. by touching the water pen to your brush pen you can get a lighten color and use that for shadowing.
>>8017938Those are brush pens, meanwhile both picrel and >>8017931 literally say fudepen on it.
>>8018055Like why don't you just use English words to communicate instead of using some weeb nonsense word you clearly don't even know the meaning of?
>>8018058Hidoi!!!
>>8018112Shakatta ga jannee~
Me starting art:>I wish I could naked girls that goodMe now:>I wish I could draw someone holding a flute that good
>>8017819really good works anon, I like the stylization choices I used them a while ago but at some point they became a limitation while rendering and decided to switch to just ink and normal brushes, though the feel is different and even harder to master
>>8019902Thanks for the kind words anon. I also did a transition for a while with watercolor and/or ink but I don't like the hassle of the water, towell and the tubes or ink well, also the watercolour paper feels different and is more difficult to put details. About the rendering part: I think it is the most difficult discipline to do with the fudepen, currently I am solving it with a gamma of simple gray markers but before I did it with a mix of hatching, smudging or drawing with the tip almost empty of ink.
