Mechstuff thread. Mechs, robots, robot girls, weapons, armour, vehicles, military, engineering, transportation, scifi, etc. Post 'em.
Do I need to study engineering and firearms to be able to draw semi-realistic mechs? I started browsing /k/ and have been wondering if it helps.
>>8018398Industrial design would definitely help. HR Giger studied industrial design. That's probably one of the reasons why he was able to make his biomechanical paintings look very realistic partly.I guess studying Scott Robertson could probably help.
Here’s my most recent mech girl, studies and techniques based on Masamune Shirow and rendering techniques inspired by Jim Lees stream. I love the way he uses the black and and white star splatter. I achieved the after burn particles with a tooth brush.

Any tips on drawing guns?
>>8021319most important thing is the handle. doesn't matter how big the gun is, the handle has to be the right size for the wielder. handles are usually 1.25 to 1.5 inches wide and around 5 or 6 inches long.
