Hello anatomy gods of /ic/, I come to ask for help in a time of great need. What is the muscle/bump in between the pectoralis and the abs? Most of my anatomy references cover the pectoralis major, the external oblique, and the abdominal areas, but the tendons that form the divisions are rarely addressed. That said, my favorite artists do draw this particular muscle (?) bump. It is a costal margin bulge, since it seems to follow the same shape as the rib cage opening. Is this way of shaping the muscles more of a stylization, or is it anatomically correct (and in this case, what causes it)?
TenTen seems to draw it as well, but at least the material I have of his lessons does not have anything specific about this part. However, by looking at his lessons, I think he considers the rib cage bone pushing under the skin?
>>8018404that's the area where the ribcage tapers out of the sternum. artists simplify it as such
>>8018404That's just the ribcage, the abs don't end at the ribs they actually stretch over themSo you're either looking at the ribcage or the abs stretched over it
>>8018404the costal margin
>>8018404That’s the rib cage. Study the bones before getting into the muscles.
>>8018404the abs go over the ribcage, the edge should be soft, it isnt correct but whatever
>>8018404It's a sweet little "lie" western comic artists do to simplify the abs into one uniform line with the torso.

>>8018501he is sucking everything in, soft edge gets sharper...
>>8018501Still the rib cage
>>8018515Still the abs above the ribcage
>>8018521Not sure what you mean but the abs do slightly go above the rib cage, but that huge bump is indeed the rib cage.
>>8018433I did study the bones first. But I was still confused on what was causing this particular bulge.>>8018480None of the drawing references I gave were western comic. I only like anime, and all my favorite artists are Asian. Many mangakas do this.>>8018525Hmm, so it is like a mix of the abs slightly over the rib cage with the bone pushing it out from under the skin?
>>8018404Does this help at all, OP?
>>8018786Nope, I have this book and have been using it. But just as you see in the picture, it does not cover or have that specific bulge. It covers the pectoralis, the external oblique, and the abs, as well as other details such as the tendons.I thought it could be that little bump around the EpD.
>>8018404This part is the exaggeration of the xiphoid process. The end of the ribcage and an important piece of anatomical reference. The fascia of the abs hug over the xiphoid process and this small area is not covered by muscle > t. Nurse
>>8018675>None of the drawing references I gave were western comic. That doesn't matter? The Japanese are taking the same information.
