DIY screentones took some sacrifices but I made it. The transparent sticker paper just needs its glue weakened, then it won't rip the drawing underneath. Its still not ideal, but its perfectly functional.
>>8019281And here's some better applications.
>>8019282
>>8019281Why not just buy screentones?
>>8019346Shipping would take weeks, and I wanted to try it anyway. With this I can also make anything into a screentone, so I could make some custom patterns. And its uncomparably cheaper.
>>8019281doesnt krita have this built in?
>>8019281>>8019282>>8019285The screentones look like they've come out pretty neat. I've always wanted to give screentones a go, but have never seen them in any of my local art supply stores.>>8019346Screentone is quite expensive, so maybe DIY screentone would be quite cost effective. Also, since I assume they're printing out the patterns themselves, it'd be quite flexible and customisable. I've also noticed that screentone packs that have multiple patterns tend to have some bullshit ones no one would use included, so this saves money on that kind of dickery too.
>>8019362>>8019884>costNot like printer ink is cheap at all, and cheapest is just adding screentone digitally.Anyways, maybe try frisket film? It's a low tack adhesive film made to mask off areas, so it might work better than standard sticker paper.
>>8019891>Not like printer ink is cheap at allI'm just quickly skimming some listed screentone prices, and it looks like it's $20+ a sheet? I hope I'm being a dumbass here, because no way that's an economical investment.>and cheapest is just adding screentone digitally.Oh sure, but there is a benefit to working traditionally -- you can sell the original. It's likely you could scan in the work, and add the screentone digitally, whilst selling the inks sans screentone, though unless it looks complete without the screentone (in which case, why add it?), or the inks are from a known property, it's likely not to sell for much.Comic authors would sell some original pages and more than double their advance payments -- I think working artists don't think about the possible profits of doing something similar. You could essentially double dip from any commissioned work, if it was done traditionally (though, do let the commissioner know). On a separate note: I don't think I've ever heard of a manga author selling their original pages. Is there no market for it, like there is for western comics pages? They should sell to their foreign fans, if that is that case.
>>8019901>I'm just quickly skimming some listed screentone prices, and it looks like it's $20+ a sheet? I hope I'm being a dumbass here, because no way that's an economical investment.Just looking at the amazon listing, it's a pack of multiple types.>The most used B4 size delta screen has been bundled together in 4 of the same type. This set is designed for beginners such as "Don't know which tone to use" and "Don't know which tone to buy first." This is a set of 10 types of series that are easy to use in a single set of model numbers, such as a gradient, and pattern. So 4 each of 10 types?
>>8019906>Just looking at the amazon listing, it's a pack of multiple types.Gotch'ya, it was just me being a dumbass then.I was just looking at the shopping tab of my search engine, and none of the listings mentioned being a pack, and sounded as if they were single sheets.
>>8019912I skipped the shopping tab and went straight to amazon since I knew they had them there. The only beef I have with the listing is that it doesn't show the tones you get, it just lists the associated number on the second image.
>>8019403From what I know, it only has a brush painting every other pixel, I don't know of any more. Clip Studio can change layers into screentones, used that in the past.>>8019891>Not like printer ink is cheap at allLmao, if you buy scam printers then maybe, but my printer is legit. I think its less than a cent per page in ink cost. It's low enough that I don't need to think about it at all, just buy a bottle of ink every few months to half a year.>frisket filmWhatever that is, I also can't buy it locally, or can't find it in Polish.>>8019884>calling an anon a "they're"fuck off tranny.>>8019906https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wm0T3vod20The wording is weird on them, but from this video it seems you get 4 sheets per pack, so it's still like 3-4$ per sheet. Compared to less than a dolar diy, that's quite a save.
>>8020149>Being this upset over the use of "they're"Is this a meme? I've seen this a fair few times as of recent, and refuse to believe people are this retarded, as if the trannies were the ones who created the words 'they', 'them' or 'they're'.Regardless, I'm not going to have sensitive faggots police my language, tranny or otherwise.
>>8020220It's /pol/tards who perpetually have a cock in their mouthIgnore him, sorry, THEM.
>>8020220Shut up you big vagina
>>8020220not a meme. they seriously get triggered by the ~26th most common English word because they are obsessed with trannies

>>8019281>The transparent sticker paper just needs its glue weakened, then it won't rip the drawing underneath. How thick/high quality was the paper? If you're using ordinary thin paper, that may have attributed to the tearing. That said, you likely can just weaken the glue by sticking it to yourself, or your wall/table and peeling it off multiple times over. Once it comes off with little resistance, it's ready to put down on your art. I've seen videos of people preparing tape, for masking, in a similar way.>8021085>Default is "he", singular they is almost always a sign of mental rot or being terminally online.Wow, they (singular) are big mad.>Also, you fags did 4 posts because of that, clearly you were the ones triggered by someone not playing along. As if they (plural) have an obligation ignore retardation. Also, you've responded to them not playing along, so not only are you equally faggy, you're a hypocritical faggy faggot.
>>8021837>How thick/high quality was the paper?Pretty thick, 200gsm.>weaken the glue by sticking it to yourself, or your wall/table and peeling it off multiple times over.Tried it, still too strong. Hairspray is much better.>defending the mental rot with some meaningless word saladNevermind, kys.
